How to replace a hub...DIY or Shop work only?

Unfortunately, one of the lug studs on my Max has been stripped in the hub. I had the delightful experience of stripping the stud with the lug nut, popping the lug stud out of its threads, and then trying to reomve the lug nut. It was nearly impossible, but now that it is out, I need a new hub since the threads for the stud are stripped.

I looked into getting a new hub, and I was wondering if anyone knows where to find one cheaper than $115.00 WITHOUT going to a junk yard.

Also, how do I swap out the old hub with the new? Do I need a press of some sort? Can I do that myself, or is it better for a shop? Thanks in advance for ANY pertinent information.

if I understand you correctly, you only stripped a stud? You don't have to replace the hub, you just need a new stud. Any parts store will have them, you just knock the old one out, and put the new one in. Throw several washers on there and a lugnut and tighten it down until the stud is fully seated.

No, I guess I didnot explain. The stud is stripped, as well as the hub socket that the stud fits into. Putting a new lug stud in the socket (for lack of a better word) would not work because the way the socket on the hub is (it appears that it was once stripped and fixed with a JB weld), I wouldn't even need to hammer or press the stud in. It goes in and out without much effort. Therefore, I know the hub is damaged.
