1995-2003 Crank Pulleys UnderDriven and Lightened
1995-2003 Crank Pulleys UnderDriven and Lightened
I am having another DMSperformance group buy on the Crank Pulleys. These are now available in Blue, Black and Silver. This is the lightest weight pulley avilable on the market, it beats out UR and RVM.
Price is $120 + shipping Anywhere INSIDE the U.S., if you are in Alaska or Hawaii, contact me before ordering.
If you would like belts, I will need a minimum of 5 people to buy the belts. One is required for the VQ35's and is $25, two are required for the VQ30 and it will cost $40 for both belts.
People can purchase now, no need to wait for a bunch of people to jump in. However, if you do want to wait, after 10 orders I can sell them for $115 + shipping.
To purchase:
Paypal: Send money to Nick@definitivemotorsports.com. Include what you are purchasing (quantity, color) and for what year Maxima you are purchasing.
Credit Card: E-mail me
Checks or money order: check out website to obtain address and send checks out to Definitive Motor Sports. www.dmsperformance.com
Any questions, Email me at Nick@dmsperformance.com
Thank You,
Nick

We never had a leak problem with our pulleys, that was RVM. We use a bronze bushing which is more wear resistant than the bushing on the UR pulley.

Sorry for the confusion. How much do they weight?

Just installed my DMS UD Pulley!
Hey Guys,
Just had my Definitive UD Pulley installed last night - No problems!
Installing the UDP took about 20 minutes - Which was faster than it took to change all my spark plugs! Getting the back 3 plugs changed on my 2K took about 45 minutes!
The OEM Crank Pulley came off without a hitch. Here's the steps (for 2K):
1: remove front passenger tire (you'll probably need to jack up the car for this part
)
2: remove the inner wheel well shield/plastic piece
3: loosen the belt tensioners - 1 from bottom and 1 from top of engine (must loosen the 'locking' nuts first of course.
4: remove loosened belts
5: un-bolt crank pulley - This is how my guy broke the bolt free - he put a breaker bar onto the crank bolt with the handle resting on the ground and bumped the engine. This loosened the pulley bolt with ease! Remember, just 'Bump' the engine, DON'T crank it. (He's a Nissan Master Tech (with the 'Ring' too!), so I didn't question him on this) then, he removed the crank pulley by grasping in both hands and wiggling it side to side while pulling - popped right off!
6: Remove old oil seal - install new one (my 2K has around 45K miles, but the seal still looked brand new) and make sure it's seated all the way in - we used a rubber hammer to 'tap' it all the way in.
7: Put UDP pulley on - used rubber hammer to seat the pulley all the way. Tighten crank bolt back on.
8: Install 2 new belts - This took a few minutes - Tension them just right and lock them down with the 'locking' nuts (make sure belts are seated properly on all pulleys. You'll probably have to use the breaker bar to turn the crank so the belts seat all the way)
9: Replace wheel well shield/plastic piece
10: Start 'er up!
Car runs great - No engine light or anything! Haven't noticed much difference in performance, but a 4-5 horse gain isn't gonna be too noticible.. Until ALL the mods starting adding up!
FYI - Installed the Denso Iridium spark plugs.
Good luck you guys! Nick, Thanks again for the UDP!

leprosybear: The diameter of the UDP is smaller than the stock one, couldn't tell you how much without actually measuring them, but the biggest difference is the weight. The stock pulley probably weighs 4-5 pounds, whereas the Definitive UDP, as you can see in the pic up top, weighs 1.28 pounds. This means less reciprocating weight for your engine to turn. Given a modest gain of about 2-4 horsepower per pound lost, you're looking at a gain of approx. ~6-12hp.
Titleistprov21: You'll have to use different belts, smaller diameter pulley=smaller belts. I got mine from Nick@definitive, but you can get yours elsewhere if you wanted...
3 days, still no problems!!

I want one, however, i need the belts too. If 5 people don't buy the belts, can I pay a couple more $$ for them. Where do you get the belts from? Also, the website doesn't work for me. Can you please PM me with the address to send the money order. ALso, what is the warranty on the pulley's? Thanks
EDIT: Website works now. My computer was acting weird

(Sorry for the pun)Anyway, I agree. I got one from the previous GD and it was a good experience, both from customer service and merchandise quality perspectives. Install was a cinch. No problems so far.
I'm attesting to this thread and JBL85's reliability. I've had my pulley installed on my '02 Max for over 10,000 miles with no issues whatsoever. If you have the VQ35 engine, installation instructions are available on my homepage. Just follow the link at the bottom. Pictures are included.

Can I get a price on a silver one and both belts? Also what kind of belts are they?

Actually if you want to take yours off, mail it to me, I can copy it and make it out of light weight aluminum. But you would have down time.

Hey Nick,
You would only need the stock crank pulley to make a lightened underdrive pulley?
If so, how much do you think it will cost?
The Cheapest I've found for our VE30DE's is here,
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/aspimp.htm#nissan
Part Number ASP339800
I have an extra stock pulley from my spare motor.
Let me know if you would be interested in doing it.
