The swap has begun...95gxe to...

97se. As most of you know my 97 got destroyed a couple of weeks ago. Well I found a 95 gxe that needed a motor so I figured what the hey. Problem #1 my 97 was s 5-speed and the 95 is auto....welll problem soon to be solved. My mechanic and I are swapping both the motors as well as trannies . Secondly...I've done the 97 rear conversion already today...and was working on stripping the rest of the wrecked car. I tried to put the 97 fog light switch into th 95 and it doesn't fit...I'm discouraged...has anyone done the foglight swap before? Pics of the cosmetic stuff coming...soon. Any help would be appreciated.

For foglights, I heard that everything works & is the same except for the switch. Get a 95-96 switch from a junk yard or something.

How hard was the rear end conversion?

dont think its too hard, the outter tails are a direct swap and for the inners he had to swap the trunk lids

He is not through with the rear conversion yet. Throw that bumper on there. While your at it put your 97 steering wheel in there. If the interiors are the same color then put the A,B,&C pillars in there as well. Center console. And you have to have a 95-96 stalk to get those fogs to work. Good Luck!

hey, does that 97-99 trunk fit w/ the 95-96 rear bumper? i like the shorter 95-96 bumper but i like the lights that go w/ the 97-99 trunk.

ok...I haven't decided on a color yet...but I'll be switching the rear bumper prolly tomorrow...steering wheel is no good...airbags...poped...I might keep it maybe I'll find a bag for it...I gotta start looking for a 95/96 foglight stalk.

any color suggestions welcome...something along the lines of the beige though...I'm thinking about the 5th gen beige...

Re: The swap has begun...95gxe to...

this 97-99 trunk and taillights looks like it fits on the 95-96 rear end. is the bumper swap even necessary? i like the 95-96 bumper better, but the 97-99 taillights better. so could i jus change the trunk and taillights?

hellloooo. IS the 95-96 to 97-99 bumper conversion necessary? it looks like it fits fine in the pic w/ the 97-99 trunk and taillights.

Because I have a 92 SE 5 speed with nasty hail damage, and I'm about to buy a 93 SE auto with a blown engine Just doing my homework.

Pezking4: oh...I hear ya...its all in the works now...but essentially the harnesses can't be that different imho, just some stuff not used with the 5 speed. I wish Hals page was still up but for some reason its down...if anyone has it saved or anything please let me know.

dunno about the rear bumpers, but I'm switching mine anyways...I always like the 97-99s better and I've got the 97-99 body kit waiting in the wings.
