Polargs on Corner Lamp..

Hi, I just purchased a pair of Polarg M-14 Bulbs for the corner lamps (the ones next to the headlight assemply), and I was wondering if anyone knows how to install it ?? Do I have to pop the lamp assembly out i.e, flathead, or is there some lamp assembly on the back I'm not seeing ?? Any ideas ?? (Newbie here)

you can either pop it out or do it the hard way without removing it by taking out the turn signal lights and reach your hand up there. the bulb harnesss is on the bottom of the light thats why you cant see it.

The only thing that makes me nervous is that by "popping" it out, I might crack or damage it. Plus, I notice some sort of rubber or foam insulation in and around the edges, presumabley to keep rain and moisture out.

when you pop it off, after you take off the screw on top you have to start by popping out the side closest to the headlight. what I did was get a huge flathead screwdriver and stick it in the crack between the headlight and corner light and slowly pry it out until it comes loose. its held by a ball-in-socket type deal so you have to pull hard to pop it out. you'll see how it is once you get started

Ohhh.....so you have to unscrew it FIRST before you start popping it out..I see...so it's ok then with the foam rubber insulation and it won't leack or cloud up afterwards ?

yea have the hood open and you will see a screw holding the corner lamp onto the headlight. no it wont leak since the only opening to the corner light is a tiny hole on the back of the housing

The foam is not for sealing the lamp ... it's just a rubber strip that runs alongside the lamp itself.

I have comparison pics of Polargs & Silverstars vs regular on my homepage, page 2.

By the way, if you're popping the lamp out with a flathead screwdriver, I would recommend using a rag or something to avoid chipping or scratching the paint around the clearance lamp housing.

i thought the polarg bulbs aren't the correct wattage for the corner lamp. Will they burn out quicker since their wattage is lower? 21w instead of 27w?

Yeah ... I'm with Nismo on this.

Polarg bulbs are rated at automotive voltage, so they will not burn out quicker or last longer. The power consumption (wattage) of bulbs are controlled by the bulb itself based on the resistivity of the filament.

"resistivity" - interesting

I have polargs in my clearance (with the clip off the nub mod) but don't like the look. A little too blue for me. I have Blue Visions in my sides and Cool Blue 9004's and they match up nicely. IMO I think the whiter looks better and my Cool Blue's light up the road pretty nicely. Def worked well in the pitch black roads last night!

Oh well, hopefully it gets the point across. Resistance sounded funny in the sentence. Too Star Trekky.

*sigh*...well.....I got the corner lamps off....However, I'm afraid i broke the bracket that attaches to the "ball & socket". I have no idea how that thing just pops out. My questions is, will it affect anything in the car during hard rain and winter snow ? Is it ok ? I mean, personally, I saw to need to attach it that ball & socket. THe screw on top should have been suffice.

the screw will be fine. we actually took off the plastic socket that holds the ball in because it just makes it easier to remove and it holds on good without it anyways. dont worry about water and all that since it wont get back there

So your saying that even without the that ball joint in place, the lamp assembly should be fine ?
