So as my subject says it is 3:41am and I just got a CEL light. It is way too drak for me to try to get codes and I am very very mad at my car right now. Here is what I have done today; cleaned K&N Filter with K&N filter cleaning kit, and tried to install some new rear deck speakers, the sound was weird so I fiddled with the wires a bit while the music was playing I heard some weird sounds after playing with it for awhile almost like craking sounds then I gave up. I started the car after that, start was weak, but it has been like this all week. And then after driving a couple mins the CEl came on! I have no idea what could have caused this but I will try and pull the codes tomorow. But for now if anybody reads this before I wake up have you ever done any of the two things to your car that I did today and get a CEL light from it?

I think it's sheer coincidence that the audio stuff mesed up and you got a CEL.. or maybe you shorted something

As far as the K&N.. i'm not sure about how you clean it but was it dry when you put it back on? The car starts awkwardly.. aybe you damaged your MAF?

I'm not sure about all these since i would pull codes no matter how dark it is.

 

i'm thinking your MAF is damaged because your filter isnt dry enough as max002 said...when its too dark i dont pull either in fear of not finishing the job and leaving my car handicapped over night or something... let us know what happened.

 

all you gotta do is take off the shield and turn the screw... it takes me 10 mins to check the code, run back to my pc and look the code up, then go back and if i should then i'll reset the errors.
