Relocating Battery Questions....

hello. im relocating my battery but i have some questions.
First Im probably gonna use the Stock Tray and bolt it to the Trunk, Then use the factory hardware to mount the battery in the tray.

Now. Wire talk. I need to run a 2g Power Wire back
Do I Need to Run a Negative 2g Wire back..??
Do I Need to COAT or WRAP my wires with anything.

Should I run the wires INside the Cabin OR Outside.
thanks, mwest

2ga is overkill. 4ga is saficiant. Ground your negative battery cable up front, then run a ground as short as possible to a heavy chassis bolt. I used a bolt on the tow hook. I would run the wire through conduit (plastic coated metal flex conduit works best. and attach it to the brake lines under the car. Be careful routing around the rear axle.

cool cool, thanks for the info.

So the wire part??? Wire Conduit ? Are U meaning like the Solid Metal Wrapped in a Plistic Coating. Electrician and House Wiring Kind??

I Found Some Marine Cable on Ebay ( 4ga ) for like $15 for 25 feet.
I plan on using my battery tray from under the Hood (after i grind/paint) so that would make this like a $15.00 mod right, im not forgetting anything am I ??? thanks plur

hmm, i wouldn't run the wires outside. if you're only running 4ga (sufficient if you don't have a big system), then you should first run your power wire through your firewall, then under the step panels between your door and seat, then into the trunk. You just need plastic hosing around the wire that is in the engine bay and any part that is touching metal (mainly the part touching the firewall and the metal panel separating the trunk and back seats.

Man, this will be cake since I already have 4g going back to my system, lol. I'll have to do this when I get my turbo, but its nice to know my wires are pretty much already ran!

Wow, you used 4g wire to your system.. isn't that overkill to the tenth degree?

thats about standard for systems.

i finally had to reread this post twice to realize something.
I take the battery out and use that same wire to run to the front of my car, then take a 2 ft cable and run that to the amp, sweet tites, a free mod now! :grinn:

It just depends on what wattage you are pushing. But for most setups, 4 gauge is the more popular wire for systems....

nah, 4ga is pretty standard if you are running a 2-amp system. i ran 0ga for mine, so you could probably say that's slightly overkill...

Yeah, I have 2 amps and am putting down around 1200 watts at full tilt, so, no, its not overkill.
