What is your favorite gear? why?

my favorite gear is 2nd. i love shift down to 2nd and enter the freeway ramp until i hit about 5,500 and switch to third. it gives me enough speed to match up the speed on the freeway traffic. in addition, i downshift to 2nd at sharp corners and it helps me slow down without applyin too much work on brakes.

what is urs?

On my 5 speed, I like 2nd a lot, but only because I rarely get to use 3rd, which I know is a VERY nice gear. On my old auto, I really liked 1st gear, cause it really put you back in your seat after 15-20 mph. Either way, gear for gear, 5 speed kicks ***!

3rd when I 'm sitting at about 3k rpm, its fun listening to hondas shift so many times while I'm still in 3rd and walking away.

3 is my fav. Passing slower highway traffic "with authority" by shifting from 5 to 3 gives me much much joy.

3rd is too tall to be a cruising gear but 4th is a good cruising gear? And why is your 3rd gear taller then your 4th? Don't you mean too short?

Also, why isn't 6th gear on the poll? Sixth is my fav because I spend the most time in it and I can see how high I can make the mpg computer climb. Plus I know you pre 2k2 people don't have one.

70-80 really sucks... thats the speed I spend cruising at most of the time. 80 to 110 is ok the 5speed max's 4th gear is a lot faster than our third

oops... yeah I mean auto's third is too short to cruise and it lags a lot when the I floor it.

2nd at 4500rpms with a 5 speed, MEVI, JWT ECU, and a cool night. It will slam your head into the headrest very hard and grab 3rd@7000rpms and look down at the speedo and you're doing over 80mph.

I also like 3rd and I call that my "walking gear". That means if I'm in a race and you're next to me through 1st and 2nd, chances are you'll get walked when I hit 3rd. The thing I don't like about 3rd is that it's too long now. Don't get me wrong, it leaps at 4500rpms on the highway (~65mph), but I can't safely wind out 3rd anymore because it will easily do 105+mph.

1st gear at 35mph
2nd gear at 60mph
3rd gear at 90mph

Worst spots...
1st gear after lauch to 20mph
2nd gear from 40-50mph
3rd gear from 70-80mph

4th gear is peppy also on the highway for passing IMHO, especially around 2K rpms

2nd is pretty fun, especially when passing people on country backroads. I also love to rev out 3rd when merging on to the highway. It's so much easier to merge when you're going significantly faster than the rest of traffic.

Damn...no Reverse on that list? What's the world coming to!

If I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to say 3rd...best for highway driving.

To get all hte magic out hte auto, 1st and second gear is the best since they are the shortest. 3rd/4th gear is when u can start to call it an "auto-tragic"

weird, the VE and VQ have the same gear ratio, I know stock gauges are off, but here is how mine goes. (as best as I can remember).

1st gear at 30-35mph
2nd gear at 70mph
3rd gear at 105-110mph
4th gear not that daring.

I love a 3rd gear pull. On the freeway I drop to 3rd and pull like mad on all sorts of cars. ( my personal fav is GT 'stangs) When they are having to shift I keep pulling strong till 122mph while waving "bye bye". My next fav is 2nd, it is good for 60 to 80mph really freakin fast, which leads to a 3rd gear pull.

It all depends on what I'm doing/where I'm driving. 3rd on the highway, 1st in the city, 2nd when racing. All in all 1st.

3rd...cause i can roam around town (35 mph limit in most places) and still be in high revs to get around traffic, but not have to worry about redline

1st...getting that awesome launch and pulling on cars from the start is fun stuff.

also ill coast in 1st at 3800 rpm and hit it and passengers heads get thrown around...sometimes i spin too...always fun.

cruise around a parking lot in first...get all kinds of looks ....

i'd say 2nd gear is the best for a quick boot
first gear is to sensitive, and burns out too easy
fifth gear is retarded because it rev's way too high for a cruising gear
no complaints about 3rd or 4th
