Sealant, glue, adhesive....whatever it is.

Sorry to start another thread on tailights guys, but I found nothing on the search on the test site and the dealership was no help.
I've been doing a modification to my altezza taillights (yeah I know, but I have a '96 so my options are limited). I took them apart and painted the chrome surface black to match my Max and also smoked the lenses. It actually looks pretty cool. Recently I decided to take them apart again and remove the silver paint trim on the outer clear lenses and change it to black for a cleaner look.
My question is simple...can I use RTV silicone to reseal and adhere the clear lense to the housing or do I need to get something else? I dont want to have to take them apart again and risk messing them up.
Any suggestions you guys could throw out would be appreciated.

And for anyone interested in seeing what my tails look like now, check out my homepage.

true, true...the only reason I picked clear is because if any of the silicone managed to get on the inside of the lense, it wouldn't be as noticable.

still....Dammit! Now you got thinking about it.
