can you figure out if its the left or right side?
does it go away if you pull up your handbrake during the sound
if so i had something similar to this and found out i needed a new caliper since it clamped down too much

At first I thought it was my subwoofer getting some kind of discharge since it sounded like a bass sound. Then i realized it seemed to change when i braked/ handbraked. I jacked my rear left wheel up (thats where it seemed to come from) and it was clamped down pretty tight. It didnt give off the free spin it normally does so I changed the caliper. Its been gone since so maybe you can jack yours up and see if you can rule this out.

coming from outside or inside the car?

My 6X5 rear speakers made some crazy noises.... center plastic piece popping all day long.

betcha a nickel it's your bearings...you're describing the same sound my wheels are making in the rear, typically any speed above 20mph. does the sound get quieter when you make a sharp turn at speed, like on a highway ramp?

i think both my rear wheels' bearings are toast; gonna get 'em fixed tomorrow.

The way I found my bearings were the problem was to remove the tire and the caliper. Stick the tire back on then spin it. It would make a sound every rotation or two. Wasn't every rotation. Kind of weird. Not what I expected. The bearings are not standard though. You can't replace only the bearings. Have to replace the entire hub. Does make it easy but more expensive. Seems like it was $80-90 for the hub. Did eliminate the noise and the car drives oh so quiet.

Driving with bad bearings isn't a good thing. Eventually they could lock up or come off.
