what supplies do I need to clean my car?
Just bought my car and i have the following stuff to clean it: Turtle wax car wash fluid, Blue Magic wheel cleaner, perfect glass, armor all armor plate paint protectant, the detailers choice sporless dryer, and thecalifornia water blade. I was wondering what kind of other stuff should I pick up and where can I get it?
Well, let me chime in here:
Turtle wax car wash fluid:
Is this a shampoo with wax in it? If so, I would change it to Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo or Mothers
Blue Magic wheel cleaner:
One of the concerns is how effective a product is with brake dust. A good choice that is sold over the counter is Eagle One A2Z
Perfect glass;
I have never heard of this. Does this have ammonia? If it does, you cannot use it on tinted windows. I would recommend Eagle One 20/20 or Stoners Invisible Glass.
Armor all armor plate paint protectant;
Is this a type of sealant glaze?
The detailers choice spotless dryer;
Look for Waffle Weave MFs
California water blade:

I second PrinzII's suggestions, especially the Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner, and staying away from car washes with wax in them. The reason I stay away from them is that they make getting glass totally smearless and spot free harder. Not to mention that they in no way take the place of a quality wax/sealant.
You don't have a polish listed. This step is what brings out the true color and gives the paint a deep, wet look (especially darker paints). I personally use Meguiars #9 SMR as my polish when it needs it, but Mothers and others have quality polishes/glazes (glazes fill swirls to reduce their visibility, while #9 can remove them if used right). Paint prep is more important than selection of wax in my opinion.
For wax, I recommend Meguiars #26 Hi-tech Yellow Wax. It's easy to use, and leaves a fantastic depth and clarity. My Arctic Pearl White paint shimmers with it. I haven't tried the Armor All, so I can't comment on it. Only wax a cool surface in the shade. If the surface is too hot or in the sun, it'll make wax removal harder. Use plenty of clean 100% cotton terry or microfiber towels.
Towel selection is one of the most important aspects to a flawless finish. Wrong towels and applicators, and you'll be putting in swirl marks (aka towelling marks). Use the softest, quality, made in America ones. Raid your Mom's/wife's good bath towel supply, but don't let them find out. If they do, I'll deny making the suggestion. Dedicate your towels/applicators to only one purpose, and keep them spotless.
Glass cleaning I use Sprayway, or a concoction of 50% water, 25% white vinegar and 25% isopropyl alcohol. Eagle One 20/20 is also good. Whatever you use, technique is the most important for glass cleaning. To avoid smears/streaks/haze, only clean cool glass in the shade. Buff with a dry cloth when done. I use microfiber towels, and they work extremely well. Plus they don't leave lint. Do not use any cleaner containing ammonia on tint. It'll turn it purple.
Check out www.autopia.org There is so much excellent info on that board. Keep in mind that everyone has their own selection of products, it's just up to you to decide based on your needs. Find something that works for you, as everyone can get different results with the same products. There really is no one perfect product for every situation.
