I know you have to disconnect your batter for a few hours before you attempt to remove any of the airbag or airbag components. They keep a charge for about 2hrs I believe. Look in the south region threads, you'll see a guy on here that goes by Ramius. That probably the guy you want to talk to since he took apart about 6 of them.

I got into a wreck bout last november, my airbags deployed and still haven't had a chance to replace them. so this is only if the airbags are deployed. Remove the plastic piece on both sides of the steering wheel (behind the cruise control) there should be one screw on each side. The thing is it's a special type of hex screw, so you would need to pick one up cost me bout $10 a oriellys. On the passenger side you need to open up your glove box undo the screw i think there is 4 one in each corner. then you glove box should just hand down. after that i think you have to unscrew bout six more of those hex screws and the airbag should come out from the top. Oh make sure to disconnect your battery cuz the driveside screws makes the horn honk.
