Those that did the fog rewire on 2k2-2k3's. HELP me please ASAP.
Those that did the fog rewire on 2k2-2k3's. HELP me please ASAP.
In IceY2k1's write up as shown, in step #6 where it says to
"Connect the spliced wire with an inline fuse to the turn signals' RED wire with 2-yellow longitudinal stripes and single horizontal silver band every 1".
What wire do we use on the 2k2 HIDs? Which color wire on the turn signals or clearance light?
Because the wire described above, for the 2k-2k1's is one of the HID wires on the 2k2-2k3's, which is where I made my mistake today.
Please help me because I want to get this finished before it gets dark out. I'm so ****ed at myself right now!!
Directions:
0)DISCONNECT BATTERY!!!!
1) Remove passenger-side engine bay relay block cover 2-snaps. I also removed the coolant resevior to make things easier.
2) Remove the snaps to separate the middle section from the bottom. This step is to gain access to the bottom side of the BLUE foglight selinoids'(Top left corner of box) 4-wires.
3) Cut the Yellow wire with 2-silver horizontal bands leaving PLENTY of slack to splice. There are two yellow wires in the relay block, but only one goes to the fog light selinoids' "front-of-vehicle" terminal(right terminal if your looking down while on passenger side).
4) Splice a wire to the cut end that connects to the FOG LIGHT selinoid terminal NOT the one that goes OUT of the fuse block.
5) Drill or poke a hole in the bottom of the relay block case to allow the new wire you just spliced to fit through.
6) Connect the spliced wire with an inline fuse to the turn signals' RED wire with 2-yellow longitudinal stripes and single horizontal silver band every 1". You could also use the front side marker positive wire, but if you make them flash with your turn signals the fog lights will also flash.

All you need is 12V, so that it activates the relay when the running lamp comes on.
There are ONLY two wires on the running lamp...you got a 50/50 chance.
Or just use a multimeter to find out which is ground vs. 12V.

Thanks Alex,
but there's not much slack on the 2 running light wires, so I can't really guess which wire to use because if I'm wrong then I wont have any wire left to splice the 2 back together.
Anyone know the answer? The running light has one black wire and one green wire with a white stripe running the length of it.

Only difference matters when the bulb burns out. If the bulb is working EITHER will work.

Call the bomb squad
Nope, well the fogs still don't turn on at all and NOW the running lights don't work.
Alex what's my problem here? I just so tempted to rewire it all back to stock right now.
The fog wire that I AM supposed to splice is the end that comes out of the relay right? Not the one that is coming up from the bottom of the black box right?

You need to get a voltmeter! Dixit will know more about *HIS* setup, so I'd hit him up.

Splice the piece of wire going to the relay NOT out of the box.

Sounds like you have THAT backwards, which would cause your fogs to no longer work.

And yes, my running lights DID work when I spliced the red wire first.

The other end of the wire that i cut, which was not spliced to anything was just wrapped in electrical tape.
I did PM Dixit for help.

FUSES! Check them.

I'll look at my ESM, which I LOVE to do.
However, I recommend you take an equivalent NEW fuse and swap them one at a time. Sometimes fuses APPEAR to be not blown, but are blown. You'll probably find it faster then I will with the ESM.

But the fuse was under the hood not one of those from the fuse box under the dash.
Just one minor problem. The passenger side parking light doesn't work. It's not the bulb because I checked another bulb and it doesn't work either. Could it be a fuse again? If it were, wouldn't that whole side of the car be out and not just ONE light?

Check the fuses again....

I just noticed that the interior lights don't work. (dome, map, door lights) DOH! I checked that fuse that says "room lamp" and it's fine.

Nevermind. It was just a loose connection on the passengers side parking light and I put the fuse in the wrong slot, that's why the interior lights didn't work.
Damn, my wiring job on the HIDs looked messy and now I just added to it!
Thanks Alex, Igor, and Dixit for all your help.
And Aggie, you should do the rewire. It's not as hard as I made it out to be. Ask anyone on here.

I am still confused. Do we splice the wire that comes OUT of the top of the relay or the wire that comes up from the bottom? What color is the wire (and where is it) you get the power from that you splice the other end of the wire to?
