i know this is the 5gen forum but, im going to the track tomorrow with my 04,

any advice u guys could give me on running tomorrow? i have the 245-45-18 inch tires. everything stock.. the temp is sapose to be in the high 80s during the day and at night down to about 70 degrees for the low.. basicly tire presure help would be good, and if i get a k&n drop in filter i know theres really no gains, but does the computer in the car take time to register that i put a different filter in? one more quick question, the filter i think comes with two tabs i guess to make it snug, if i put it in and its snug should i put these tabs on
? thanks in advance guys

OK, we cut you some slack yesterday with the K&N question for an '04, but this really does not belong here, a situation made even worse by asking the very same air filter question again!!!!

K&N filter, just put it in and start the car.

make sure you use those tabs too, otherwise there will be gaps.

you might want to adjust your tire pressure for the track runs. have fun~

Yeah, I think tire pressure will be important for a good launch, but when I ran my car I didn't adjust/removed anything. I wanted to run exactly as I drive it on the streets.
I think you can lower it to like 25pi or something like that for a better launch which will give you better 60-ft.
As for K&N dropin filter I think it should help alittle as the car will breath better at higher rpms.

Good luck with your run, also are you 6-speed?

thanks for the last two posts on here. im sorry for reposting but u guys are more helpful because alot of people havent ran there 04's yet, its a 5spd auto, and right now i have the tire presure set at 30 all around.. but these two tabs where do they go? thats what im having trouble with.. and i have 18s on the 04. thats why im having trouble witht he tire presure, if u lower it doesnt it hurt the top end.. im thinking of just leaving it at 30 or maybe lowering it to 28 and running it like that.. 1st run no matter what im stomping on it to see how much they spin and than ill take it from there, if they spin ill just ease on it quick on the next run ill be happy with a stock run of 14.999..

Yeah I think lower tire pressure results in lower trap speeds, but I am not 100% sure. I would just run you car how you drive it on the streets. Without removing or andjusting anything. At least that is how I ran my first time.
Work on your 60ft and you will get much better times. My first time ever at the track I ran 14.7 with crappy 60ft of 2.44, I know I can do better and get into lower 14s.

*** I told you yesterday: go back to where you bought the filter. There should've been instructions in the box. Have them pull the instructions out of another box.

Out of the millions of K&N filters that are sold every year, you happened to get the ONE that doesn't have the instructions to tell you where the freakin' foam tabs go.

Jeezes f'n.....

im thinking the people that have bought the 04s are mostly older people that dont mod and race. so they wouldnt be able to answer questions. have you seen the boring topics in the 6th gen forum

Does rear independent supension work good?
I have not driven 2004 yet, but I am sure it should be more stable and controled compared to previous Maximas with beam in the back.
I hate the way my car rides on bumpy roads, suspension sounds and feels like crap. Especially how rear jumps out when you take a corner and hit a bump. Really sucky feeling.

ok did you really have to add that you were only 19 its just not right that people your age have cars like that. cause there is NO way you pay for it yourself

Actually my first car was a prelude. My father bought it for me when I was 16. When i sold it I used that as a down payment and I am making payments on my 04 now.
