Got my car back from the shop...LONG

After a month of waiting, my car has been returned to me. Some of you may remember the accident I had involving an electrical transformer and my car...

Today I was delighted to hear that my car is ready for me to pick it up, however, when I got there what I was delivered was everything short of my car. My first surprise was that my key fob was not working to unlock the doors, lock the doors, or open the trunk. I then sat inside of my car to make sure the audio equipment was still working, as it had been 2 weeks ago even after my accident. As I turned on the deck, no music pounded my ear drums, it was completely silent. I turned the deck up all the way to hear the lightly singing tune on the radio. Normally this volume would crush my head and make my ears bleed...

At this point I was already pretty heated, my car was supposed to be in full working condition, and everything I had done short of opening the door had not worked correctly...I then decided I was going to have MY audio guys look at it, as I was already unhappy with teh shops work. They sign off saying that both of these things were not working, and they reassure me that they have 100% guarentee and warranty on everything. As I pull out of the parking spot I hear a noticeable CLICKING sound as I turn the steering wheel, left, right, back to the center, any direction you turn it there is a clicking sound. My unhappy dimeanor now turned slightly worse. I then pressed the gas to hear that my engine, not the intake, was NOTICEABLY louder. That I can live with, but when I applied the brakes, I had to press them almost completely to the floor in order for them to engage hard enough for the vehicle to stop moving its 3 mph speed in reverse.

Despite the current problems I drove the car to my audio shop. On the way I turn on my left indicator to see that it is blinking very fast, almost like those ricey hondas you see on the road. Why is this? The front left indicator will not blink, it will light up if my headlights are on, but refuse to blink. I get to the audio shop to find out that the deck is blown, although intermittently it will get loud as before. Anyways, I get down there to realize that to open the trunk with the button located on the driver door the car has to be on. This is the same verdict for my headlights, if the car is off there is no way to get the headlights on.

My drive home in the dark was very scary. Despite these problems the headlights and all lights in the car including brakelights will decide to stop working and come back on whenever they feel like it. I also noticed on my cluster that even though the doors and trunk are closed, both lights are dimly lit. I get to the gate at my house to realize the homelink system does not work, and my maplights and dome light also do not work. The great part also, is that when I hit any homelink or maplight button, those 2 dim lights on the cluster become bright as if the door is open and the trunk is open. If I let go of the button, they go dim again, but as soon as I press it they light up.

I wish I could explain my level of dissatisfaction, intolerance, and anger right now. My car has been gone for a month getting fixed, PLENTY of time for the damages, keep in mind my insurance company reported NO electrical problems, NO wiring problems, and NOTHING other than body damage and some minor transmission problems. The total for repairs came out to be over $12,500 and my insurance company claimed that the damage on my vehicle had to be 85% of the value of my car. I'm becoming angrier writing and thinking about this, so I will stop for now. If I have forgotten anything else, I will surely put it up here...

Ah of course, the paint on the bumper and front end does not match the paint on the side of my car that was not repainted, and I called the body shop to findo ut what time they open tomorrow and the manager answered the phone, I told him that the paint did that match and his answer was 'the paint on bumpers never match the color of the car.' HA

Call your Insurnce company, they have everything documented as far as the electrical system and its working status!!!! Plus they probably took photos of your car after its accident. Your insurance company will be your best weapon against the shop that did your work. Use them to your advantage as they will take the shop to court if they don't fix the problems. Basically the shop is fixing the car for the inaurance company and you so the insurance company will be as mad as you are!!!

Yeah hes not kidding, I saw his ride a few hrs ago and its making some funky @ss noises, the steering is clunking like hell and the electrical is all jacked up. I thing it has atleast 6 or so bad grounds, they probably 4got to hook it up. Even his damn left blinker wasnt working, seriously after $12K you'd think they would have done it right That car has atleast $1K more work that needs to be done. From what I know, once a car takes a hit that hard its never exactly the same again. Hope it all works out, im still surprized they didnt total the car.

You will hear "meets industry standards" as a reply to your complaints about color matching.

Q: Who pays the body shop?
A: The insurance company.

Q: Who does the body shop work for?
A: The entity that pays the bill

You might want to file a complaint with your state's insurance commissioner. They are usually bound by law to respond within 30 days to complaints like yours. In my experience there is nothing good about getting into an accident. Your anger and frustration is understandable.

Sorry to say Zach, but as soon as you get that bish somewhat normal, trade it in ASAP towards something else.

You'll NEVER be happy once you know your baby has been violated like that. It'll never be the same IMO.

F-it then. Just get out of the lease ASAP.

I'd go to the stealership and see if they are itching to get Zach out of his current lease and into another.

Wish I would have leased!

Yeah in a way leases are awesome and in a way they blow Zach seriously, take it from some1 whos seen cars come and go. Every single car thats taken a severe hit like yours, that ive seen ends up having more and more problems and REALLY FAST might I add. If you want to own a car, dont let it be this one. Trust me it is a mistake you will regret.

My car was hit just as bad as Zach's was. I knew it would never be the same if it was fixed...so i ended up taking it to the best body shop in town that specializes in mercedes and porsche. Before I knew it, the repair bill was over 15k and they totalled it (THANK GOD!) I think its too late for Zach to try to get them to total it. He should have argued it to have it totaled before it was fixed.

Get that thing fixed and turn it in...It wont ever feel the same again

Go down to the wharf.

Ask for Rocco. Slip him an envelope with a pic of your car and $1000.

Go to bed. Wake up.

Find car missing.

Call insurance agent. Make this expression:

LOL highroad. What I may do is I have been getting this call from a Pinacle Nissan dealer, he read my thread on the org and gave me a pm and a call about looking for a 2k2-2k3. I'll call him and ask him what my options are through a nissan dealership because all I want is a working maxima, whether its a sexy 2k3 6speed with black interior, or my 01 gxe...

I'll keep you guys posted, car is going back to the body shop right after school...

I'm on a three year lease and i'm 13 months into it...what kind of money am I going to have to fork out? I'll start off getting it fixed, then it will be an aggrivation to my parents, then they'll do something about it...

There are all kinds of "oh s**ts" associated with this one. First of all, they're going to want to roll the remaining lease payments onto the next car. Getting out of a lease 6 months early is one thing, but bend over if you're going to try for 23 months.

Also, the lease company - Nissan, whoever - is going to inspect the car, and you're going to pay for anything not considered normal wear and tear. Your electrical system going nuts, steering noises, etc. are all going to = headaches for you. They'll fix the problems, and promptly bill you.

Call your insurance company and complain. Then drop your car off at the repair shop and tell them you don't want it back until it's right. You should never have driven it away from that place.

Good luck!

Don't leases typically have a "get out" clause that you can pay? I'd find out.

Sad to say, but Craig2kGLE is probably correct.

The reason why I drove it away was because the shop was closing, the manager has worked on several of our cars and guarenteed our complete satisfaction, and because at the time I figured the alarm and audio system was the only problem and the audio system couldnt get looked at by my insurance company until friday.

Just a thought, but besides blown fuses or melted grounds(ask Dixit), those are ALL releated to the SECU(Smart Entrance Control Unit). It could be fried, but it seems unlikely.

Most likely you melted some of the grounds, which are going to be a bish to track down. Hopefully, your shop has a good electrical tech who is patient.

Yeah that 100,000 volt shock couldnt have done too much good for the car Im sure I could find all the screwed uo grounds in day but damn, I hate finding melted wires, what a Pita!

Yeah, took it back today, although my dad has been calm all today and yesterday, when we got into that autobody shop he let loose, made me happy! Dropped off the car, little to say they were ashamed at the vehicle they had given back to me. The electrical system wasnt evaluated there, but a sister company where they are sending my car again and a nasty note...

I totally ****ed up my Max. I had a REAL place work on it. It was back to stock with no problems. I had a new axle installed as well as a lot of other crap. Ask Cwally, he saw what a POS I left the car in. If you get the right place to work on your car, there should be no issues.. Insurance companies suck bull honkers !

This is the 2nd time your mentioning you jacked up your ride, if your axle had to go too, what the hell happened? was it that bad? When did this happen anyway?

What the hell is this 20 questions?

G'day,

I am really sorry to hear about you and your car, I have been in something really similar; I had a Semi truck reverse into my car at about 7mph and did not stop. I was in the car at the time off accident. Anyhow it took me ages to get it right, in the end I had no choice, I sold the car and got something newer, it all went on for about a year and the place that fixed the can and the insurance company had given up with it all.

My repeated phone calls to their insurance company did me no good at all,
I hope you get this thing resolved in a timely manner.

Take Care, Mate
