A couple days ago I made some passes under these conditions and mods list below:

Kansas City International Raceway (~1100')
Temps ranged from 102-98 degrees with ~35% humidity, 29.86 baro, very little wind.

I ran three lower 14.7s, two 14.8s, and a 14.9. MPH ranged from 93.5-95.0mph with 60 foots ranging from 2.22-2.39.

Mods:
hacked airbox with resonator, UDP, non-mandrel y-pipe, MEVI (5300rpm switchover), JWT ECU, 2K+ muffler. Runs were on my ASA LS5 17s w/235/45s, tools in the trunk, spare/jack, and a little less than 1/2 on the tank. Pretty much full street trim (loaded SE 5 speed) plus Stage I/II SFCs. Tire psi 32 front and 28 rear.


I dug up some old slips of when I ran with my MEVI last August and September before I got my JWT ECU. The weather was actually a bit cooler (lower 90s) and I was running on my lightweight 16" K1s, HKS intake (not the hacked airbox I have now), midpipe (resonator now), and B-pipe (stock now). On average, my times without the ECU ranged from 15.0-15.2@92mph, 1/8 mile 9.7@73mph, and with 2.29-2.32 60 foots. Compared to what I ran on Wednesday, I was .4 seconds quicker and 2.5mph faster, even running on my 17s, hotter weather, tools and spare in the truck, 15lbs of Stage II SFCs, more gas, and technically less mods. The ECU really does seem to shine at all areas along the track. It also seems like the resonator might be helping things.

I agree. Even in hot weather, my JWT ecu makes my VE 5-sp run like a bat outa hell.

 

Dave, when you raced last week did you end up shifting into 4th at all? I would guess that you are able to stay in 3rd gear when you cross the finish line.

Before the ECU, when you just had the MEVI, did you happen to make any passes at the track? If so, did you end up going into 4th gear at all since you are now able to rev right up to the stock limiter even?

 

With the JWT ECU there's no need to shift to 4th. I'm crossing the line at an indicated 6600-6700rpms.

I probably wasn't clear enough in my post above, but go back and read the last paragraph. Last year when I ran in August/Sept, it was with the MEVI, but no ECU. I was able to hold on to 3rd thru the traps (~6500rpms).

My car really has never felt stronger. I am starting to think the JWT ECU is VERY worthwhile even if you don't get the MEVI. In this world of questionable mods, the JWT ECU and the Y-pipe are definitely solid.

 

I lost about 20 lb.ft of torque in the midrange... at peak... 10-12 lb.ft at other points in the midrange... I really hope that what you say is true... hoping to get my midrange back!

 

I'm kicking myself by not getting the ECU a long time ago. I really wish I could have felt what the torquey USIM felt like with the ECU. I'd imagine tt would be brutal from 0-80mph.

20 ft/lbs! Good God. I think I lost about 12 ft/lbs at most and on average around 8 ft/lbs. Yes, the ECU will restore almost everything you lost.

I hope so... here's the comparison graph... the red (higher midrange, lower top end) is with y-pipe and b-pipe only. The blue (lower midrange, higher top end) is y-pipe, b-pipe, JWT cone, MEVI, UDP

And to the guy who asked, you can run the JWT ECU out to 106mph with the 7200 limiter, and 103 with the 7000 limiter so there is no need to shift to 4th for us N/A bolt on guys.
