Auto Tranny Shudder

My auto tranny seems a little funny in that there is a dead zone around 40 to 50 mph where if I hit the gas, the revs don't go up but the car shudders a little and then engages. Sounds a lot like the 5th gen problems with their auto and I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be. BTW, the auto seems to work fine everywhere else. No slipping. Car has around 96k.

Just had my tranny rebuilt since the car wouldn't go in reverse. Maybe your 3rd gear (or which ever one is at 40 MPH) is slipping. Your tranny might be dead in that gear (maybe something is broken in there )

I still have 3rd and the 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th shift is fine. It feels like the rest of the car catches up to the engine. Sounds exactly like the problem the 5th gens had awhile back and was wondering if anyone here might know or experienced something to that effect.
