First Day at the Drag Strip

I did 7 runs, best slip was:
R/t .774
60' 2.452
330 6.775
1/8 10.386
MPH 68.74
1000 13.435
1/4 15.973
MPH 89.09

This was with a trunk load of tolls and other crap and the spare. Don't know why I didnt bother to take all that out. I ran against a 03 SE-R Spec-V slightly modded with CAI and muffler. He ran a 15.436 1/4 with everything taken out, spare etc.

I have a 99 SE 5spd bone stock. What is a good time in the 1/4?

And I think I need better tires, I am running 16 inch all season Z rated Michelins. You guys recommend anything? And wat about light weight rims?

It's not that bad considering your 60' time and the fact that's it's probably a little hot outside.
Don't go and buy new tires thinking it will help. I just pulled my best 60' ever, 2.19, on 205/65/15 all season off brand crap tires. It just takes practice and the right psi.
With better driving you could have ran about a 15.5.
What shift point are you using?

Try shifting at 6500, 6300, 6100. You will probably see a little gain doing that.

I held it in third and brought it to near readline crossing the line.

No, that's fine. If you don't have to shift into 4th, that is great if you don't. But some people do.
It does not have to be exact, just take it to reline in first and then shift out of 2nd a few hundred rpms earlier.
