97 GXE Auto: Not shifting at redline while in D?

Hello all,

I just start to notice that my car does not shift at redline on the first and second gear (don't know about the 3rd and 4th yet). It always shifts at around 6100 instead of 6500. However, if I shift manually (from 1-2, 2-OD off,) they always go to redline until I push the lever to the next gear.

Is this normal? And if they are not, what could I do?

Thanks in advance!

I will try to remove the driver's carpet tomorrow and let's see what happens. It was pedal to the metal though (well, pedal to the carpet to be exact).

Hmm...

NoO, the automagic computer for the gxe/gle tells it to shift at 6k in "D" and the se tranny comp tells it to go to red. why do u wanna go to red anyways, unless you have mevi, you are losing power

I have a SE and it doesn't shift at redline either. Shifts around 6100 rpms too.

I think the KS is fine. I changed it out a long time ago. No CEL at all. So I guess it's fine.

Thanks Guys!

Thank you for your reply. The 1-2 shifts occurs at 6100/6200, but the 2-3 shifts happens at 6100. No news about the 3-4th yet.

My KS is still the original one from new, the car is now about 140k. I believe I need to change the KS pretty soon.

that's normal for an auto do to the rev limiter and ECU
you can upgrade your ECU but with out a MEVI your engine
screams but still no power in the high end.
