Sunroof Fixed on my 2K3SE

I went into the dealer yesterday and had my Sunroof fixed. After taking the battery off, my Sunroof forward and backward button didn't function anymore. The other button worked that pops up and down.

They had to "relearn" the device which the bill said on it. I wonder if they reprogram it in the ECU or something. I was wondering if anyone knows how they do it or how I can prevent it from happening again even if I pull my battery out for some reason.

Man, you should have asked before going to the dealer. The procedure is actually in the owners manual. All you have to do is hold the down position button for a few seconds and it's reset.

Man, u just got robbed. As mentionned, all you have to do is hold down the button that closes the roof until you hear a click in the roof. You know the button you press when you just want to tilt your roof? That one, but press on the side to close the roof. So you can pull your battery and do that safely.

You paid for them to do that on a car under warranty? You need to go get your money back.

"Man" I can't believe it was that simple. How the heck did you guys know about this? Anyway, thank you!

I was lucky because I didn't have to pay anything for it. I had my inspection done as well. I had to wait 4 1/2 hours for this stuff to be done. I hate going to the dealer!

Nope, doesn't work. I had the same problem. I tried:

1)Holding down the button.
2)Removing the relay for 1 hour.
3)Unhooking the battery.

Each time I closed from tilt until I hear a "click" and each time the roof continued to malfunction. Finally my dealer updated something in the program (I showed him the TSB). It has been working fine for the last 5 weeks, but I'll wait until I have more miles/time to declare victory.

Where was the sunroof positioned when you tried to do this? If it's open, you have to keep playing with it till it shuts and then do the reset. I've done this at least 10 times and it has worked everytime. Who knows, it's the first time i've read of it not working.

Closed. The sunroof must be closed in order to hit Tilt-Close and get the "click".

Why did you need to do it 10 times? Sounds like you need the re-program.

he prolly disconnected his battery 10 times...

i work on my system religiously, in fact, more than that. i'm always reseting that sunroof. i pressed it until it closed, then held the closed button for about 5 seconds. after that, it would work like normal, it has done this perfecly, more than 10 times, and as far as i know, you're the only one that had a problem. now, if you have a TSB that proves an error, then it may be, that you did have a defect somewhere, but if anyone ever says "it stopped working after i disconnected the battery" the first thing everyone assumes is reset sunroof, and 99%, that's the answer

the way i see it is this. the lever for the sunroof (the one you can throw forward or backwards and it opens on it's own, you don't have to hold the switch) has to be calibrated. if let's say you closed the sunroof, disconnected the battery, moved it to the open position, then connected the battery, and then you try to set it in the close position, the sunroof would pull off the tracks, or something would of happen like that. with a calibration everytime power goes down or when something is wrong, it assures the sunroof and the sunroof module that they are calibrated correctly. remember, you can lift the sunroof. you dont' want to send it to it's closed position and have it lift up.

i think that should make sense. nissan just did it as a precauation.
