For what it's worth, I have a 2k1 5-speed w/ 27k miles. I've had absolutely no problems with it, other than the fact that I spend too much time watching this forum.....

How much are you willing to spend? You might be surprised how cheap you can get a 2002-2003. Big difference in car too.

I have 64K miles on my 2K1 5spd and the only problems I've had are warped rotors, which didn't warp until after the warranty was up, and SES light that came on which was covered under the emissions 80K warranty.

Don't know where you live, but there's a 00 Max Se 5-speed, dark green with clear corners, at a Nissan dealer near me. If you want to know more, I'll check it out.

All the negative rumors about the 00-01 Max are all LIES & FALSE PROPAGANDA!!! I've had 0% problems w/my may and I know of no one that has had these nagging problems that you listed. As a matter of fact, if you are going to get into modding your car, the 95-01 Max's are more hop-up friendly than the newer ones. Get an 00-01.
