Turbo 04? Could It happen??
Turbo 04? Could It happen??
Ok guys i know nobody has turboed an 02 or 03 or even an 04. Would it be very hard to put together a turbo setup for my 04? I really wanna boost the max since the motor seems pretty strong. Anyways I guess the only way to do it would be a custom setup. Can anyone give me some input on this and possibly a price range of what I could be looking at. Thanks boosterz!!! later
No reason it couldn't happen. It would have to be custom, but it's possible. Price range depends on a lot of things. How crazy of a setup do you want?
We recently did a custom turbo for a 98, and are researching making one for the '03, and it honestly doesn't seem that much harder than the '98. Obviously there are more electronics in the way, and a little les room to work with, but nothing that would block the project.
Isn't the '04 the same motor as the 03? and 02? How much space is under the hood? I've never looked at one.

Well Im pretty sure there is a decent amount of space under the hood. I want a setup that I can run a safe amount of boost say 5-7 psi on the street, but able to turn up the boost at the track to around 10-12 psi or some. I wanna make around 300 whp running around 7 psi or less. I really want it to be a reliable setup since this would be the first turboed car i would own if i plan to do this. anyways see if this helps and get back to me whenever you have time. thanks!
300 whp at 7 psi on an '04 should be easy. Since you're probably at 220+ whp already, an 80 hp gain isn't hard. We gained 91 whp on a '98 at only 5 psi. So 7 psi on the 3.5L would be closer to 350 whp or more.
I have no idea of the reliability of the 3.5's under boost only since it hasn't been done yet. But I don't think there would be too much problems.
Where are you located?
