Track day ....Dissapointed

today i ran my car for the first time at the track.... weather appx. 85-90F... low humidity, sea level...

1998 GXE auto... JWT pop, mid-pipe, y-pipe, catback, UDP, MEVI, VB mod, drop resistor mod, kyb agx, Ground Controls, Tranny cooler, 2k Maxima SE 17" wheels on RE-92 all around, full interior.

MEVI set at 5300 rpms:

+.132----Reaction
2.354----60ft
6.726----330ft
10.325---1/8ET
69.21----1/8MPH
13.310---1000'ET
15.971---1/4ET
86.02----1/4MPH

MEVI set at 5000rpm:

<<<LOST THE SLIP>>>
but i remember running 15.7XX at 89.9X with a 2.2XX 60'

i dont know whats going on maybe some one can diagnose something..anything

BTW i have 60600 mile on my car and i changed spark plugs at 60k to NGK platinums (but i didnt torque them down) i have a CEL that i will check codes tomorrow.

Well you'll almost never do well your first time at the track, so go easy on yourself.

Problem #1 is the 2k 17" rims. Those suckers are heavy as a crap. 50lb (both wheel and tire) vs the 40-42lb 15" steelies or 16" 5-spokes. Translated from inertial weight to static weight, that's equivalent to an extra 250 lb that you were dragging down the track. The VQ35s do okay with them, but the VQ30s just don't have the torque.

With only an 86 mph trap on the first run, I think maybe the MEVI didn't open. The 89.9 mph trap on the 2nd run looks much much better. Your 2.2-2.3 launches were definitely pretty good for your first time out too. Also, with the MEVI you'd need to be manually shifting at redline and not letting the computer shift. I assume you were doing that, no?

CEL

Honestly not too bad for your first time out in spite of problems.

thanx for fast responses guys ... yeah first time jitters ..... i gotta get a new set of wheels next time, and CEL will be off... THe VI was activating like i said ^ .... but on the 15.9 the was set to 5300rpms instead of the 5000rpms it was set at for the 15.7 run

EDIT: i fixed one problem..... before i went on vacation in july i figured out that my HARLAN SWITCH flaked out and had a correction factor of +500 rpm so there for by me setting the Harlan at 5300rpm it wasnt activating until ~5800rpm and only was open from 5800-6500.. that was one problem that i figured out... 1 down a few to go..

Set your RPM switch at 5300 or 5400. 5000 is way too low and that is not helping your times nor your trap speeds.

Its the temp that was killing you, I ran 15.9 with just an intake, plus a 160lb passenger in the car, but it was around 70 degrees outside..Better luck next time!

did you ever pull any codes off your ecu? I know most people only talk about the knock sensor causing power loss at low rpm's, but myself, I ran a 10.1 sec 1/8th at best before i replaced my knock sensor.

Well, last week at the bowling green NICO meet(after i replaced my KS) I ran a 9.68 1/8th and a 15.102 1/4 everything was the same on my car except for the KS. Still only had an old weapon r mid-pipe(way before frankencar made them) an apexi muffler, and a custom 2.5 MB resonated b-pipe.
