idles a little over 1 when I start it up after its been sitting a while
then drops to in between .6 and .7

 

Totally normal. Mine is 2k3 6speed. 24k miles and same scenario. Although most of the time it seems to be idling around 500 rpms

 

2k2 6spd w/ 16000Miles

at warm up period it idles at 1200RPM, then drop to around 500 or 600RPM after warm up. I think thats normal.

I have a 2k1 5-speed SE and I turn 4k @ 95mph and 3300-3400 @ 80mph. This is my first m/t Maxima, are these figures high or right on target?

 

Its normal.

 

Depends, auto or manual. Also A/C on or off, and is the steering wheel straight ahead. All of these (amongst other things) have an effect on the idle speed.

 

2k, 56k miles. 1400 rpm when cold and 650-700 when warm.

 

2k1 with 53k miles and 1300rpm at start and 700 after warm up

 

2k2 GLE 18k miles 600-700 warm.

 

2k SE 36k miles mine idles around 1000-1500 while cold, 600-700 while hot

 

2k1 5 spd. 40K (ECU flashed at 28K). Idles ~1000rpm cold, ~600 rpm warm.

 

tad under 500 after putting in synthtic

 

2k2 beautiful gate shift automagic 15k round 600

 

2k2 6 speed... 13,000 miles when cold at 1100rpms. when wamred up around 600 or so

I idle at about 400-700 ..

I even had the idle bumped upwards... but still it sticks around 500

2K SE Auto, if dash tach is accurate at low end (debatable), it's about 750 at op temp. On every car I've had with an auto tranny I've decreased the idle RPM because they were always set too high IMO. Haven't touched my Max yet, but probably will drop it a bit, down to 600 would be just about right. The main reason I like a low RPM is the braking, it's much easier on the brakes to come to a stop when your idle is low, pads will last much longer, especially if you do a lot of city driving. To save some wear on the brakes during a hard stop (for whatever reason, like a red light) I will sometimes put tranny into neutral, easier to stop.
