350Z HIDS vs 2k2-2k3 Maxima HIDS
350Z HIDS vs 2k2-2k3 Maxima HIDS
My friend just picked up a brand spanking new 350 Z track model and i notice that his HIDs illuminate more of a blue light than our HIDS. Why is that, i thought Nissan used the same HID bulbs in both vehicles? I know ours give off a bluish purple light when they are first turned on then they adjust to a greenish white florescent light once they have been on for a min or two. But his HIDS seems like they shine blue from the get go and stay blue.
Does Nissan use a higher power HID bulb in the 350? If so i would like to switch, if possible, of course.....

color is kelvin scale not lumens. Lumens deals with power and actually all you have to do is put a transluscent coating on yours if you want that ghetto purple color but just b/c his are a different color does not mean he has increased visibility.
Like UMD said, 350 Z has projector lenses. I see some of the new saturns that have projector housing with halogens and from some angles they look like HID's, projectors change the way the light looks a lot. Even Mercedes without HID's look like they have HID's because of the projectors.
Now if only we could get some projectors on our Maximas...

However, it's not your typical projector. You get to actually see the non-refracted light before it travels through the glass eye.
Pretty cool IMO.
