From 97maximase5spd to 300blueballs

Hey guys. I haven't visited this site in a while (5 months). Looks a lot nicer than before.

Anywho, I just wanted to say that my last car (97 se 5spd) along with this site turned me into a car nut. I got bit with the "mod" bug and I don't think it will ever go away. I appreciate all the help given and lessons learned though this site. I'll occasionally troll though here and see how the maxima scene is going. Even after I brought by new car, I still get my neck snapped back looking at some nicely hooked up maximas. It still is a great car. Too bad it was totaled.

BTW, what's the fastest 1/4 mile time to date on here. With all these turbo kits being sold, what kind of times are you guys putting down?

Well just wanted to say keep up the good work, be kind to noobs (somewhat), and keep on being one of the most helpful/insightful forums on the www!

Oh here is a link to my cardomain site. Check out the new ride!

http://www.cardomain.com/id/97maximase5spd

The first 2 pages are of my max pre and post accident and the 3rd page is of my new car which is why I named myself 300blueballs on their enthusisast site!

Nice new car

It's a shame you're not in the Max scene anymore, but good luck with your STi

Tatanko- Thanks. I still miss the max, especially when I see them hooked up, but I'm having fun with the Rex!

Well we've tested them out a handful of times. From 0-60 I bogged pretty bad (it's pretty hard to launch AWD, plus I was messing with the DCCD controlls), but by the time we reached 60, I had about 1/4 car length and gaining slowly.
We also went on the highway from like 55-110 and we were dead even the whole way.
We've switched cars when were following each other. I like to feel like a pimp in that M3.

The only car I've lost to was a 97 Integra GSR!!!

(well he also had a greddy turbokit with a T04 ) :hypnotized: Must mod car...must mod my c a r... :hypnotized: d@mn!, too bad I'm dead broke. I need to Ebay some things...

I see people are putting down some real good times on here especially Mardigras, N/A Nealoc, and probably most with turbo kits. Very nice!

Try clutch dumping from 5200 RPM...

I know that on the AUTO WRX they(even subaru dealers) say to rev to 5500rpm in second, then get on it and shift back into first...

Quicksilver & Matt - the STi tranny is much much stronger than the WRX one. I know of a couple of people on the forums that rev till ~6200 rpm and sidestep the clutch. Its not like I would ever do that, but it's nice to know that the STi could withstand that kind of abuse. A WRX would've blown 1st gear. I got the hang of launching it now. I hold revs from 4200-4500 and quickly slip out the clutch.

Ok, I'll do that........ BOOM

(If it weren't for the limiter, the rpms would be at about 7500)

Right. I know the STi clutch is a monster. IIRC, it's actually built to handle 500+ HP stock. Thata's pretty damn good for a stock clutch. I feel sorry for the EVO guys who have such sh1tty clutches and chattering problems, deceleration noises...etc. I love the new STi...although I'd like a stereo in mine
