Aftermarket alarm won't open/close doors

Well after my first max got totalled I got another 96 gxe... but this one is the most basic GXE I have ever seen... no power seat, only 3 speed wipers, etc...

It came with an installed aftermarket alarm that you have to disarm, then use the key to open the door, which is annoying as hell.

I don't think this car came with a remote entry option, but I'm not sure. I'd like to either be able to reprogram my old remote from my previous 96 to this one if its possible... OR somehow rewire the aftermarket alarm so it opens all the doors when it disarms and closes them when it arms... i hate using the key

any ideas?

thanks

the aftermarket alarm should have been hooked up to the door locks. If it isn't, it's more than likely just a cheap alarm. I would suggest that you go to a place like circuit city, or best buy...buy an alarm and have them install it. I got my Viper 800 from circuit city and it came with the lock/unlock feature. Whats great about this alarm is that you can purchase relays that can be wired into the alarm system to do things such as, pop the trunk, start the car, roll the windows up and down...all from the remote. Hope that helps

if it has a security space on the right side of the steering wheel then it came with the OEM alarm system...which i doubt. good luck though

If you have powerlocks then it just a matter of running 2 wires from the driver's door to the alarm brain's 2 pin (blue and green) harness (provided it's one made by DEI subcompanies...

im pretty sure i apid around 325 for the alarm and installation. I looked for my receipt, but can't find it. . What's cool about buyin it someplace like that is that, when I first got it installed, I had them install it into my first car ( '88 coupe deville, what a frigen car that was) and then when i went back to have them install it into my Maxima, :-D , they didn't charge me to remove the alarm from my caddy, and only charged me 160 to put it into the maxima
