Anybody bought from WheelMax? What brand tires come with their package deals ??

I figure I can buy a set of new tires AND wheels for about what a decent set of just tires would cost me, but looking at their site they have some tire brands I've NEVER heard of...Federal, Wanli, Star, Ventus, etc. The tread designs look nice and aggressive, but that doesn't tell me much. All I know is they MUST be better than my stock Potenzas

Also, my stock size is 225/50/17...if I stay 17" do I want 235/45 or 245/40 ?

If I go 18" what size is the best "+1" ...I'm guessing 235/40 ?

Thanks !

I bought my girlfriend a set of Axis Touring Cups earlier this summer from Wheel Max. They came with Ventus tires. They are made by Hankook or whatever. Not a bad tire, I mean for a civic anything is good. Anyhow they were 215/40/18 tires with the wheels and the total was like 1g. The prices are really good and I'd suggest you jump on it while they are still having that sale this week.

they are probably more on the soft side for performance, dont expect a long tread life or a quiet supple ride from these tires.

I was looking at buying some of the Exel-King rims and tires...what size do you think would be the best fit for my 3rd Gen? Right now, on clearance, they have the rims w/ 205/40/17s for $499, the 215/45/17s for $550, and the 235/45/17s for $599.

Thanks for your input.

I'm just gonna get my gripe about wheelmax in right now...I went to buy a set of rims from them Black Racing Pro N1's....

I called them up only to find out that they will not sell just rims to you, unless you have bought a set of wheels +tires from them. I told the girl I was talking to that I wanted to discuss this with her supervisor, and she refused to get them for me. So I finally threw a little fit, told her she is out on a thousand dollar sell, and hung up the phone.

Needless to say I will never attempt to buy another thing from them.

That seems funny because they do list the prices of just the rims for EVERY wheel that they sell. I wonder why the list the price if they aren't willing to sell just the wheels. Seems strange but thats not the first time I've heard of a company being like that.

I thought the exact same thing when I went to order them, too!! That was my big argument, if you are gonna list the price of rims, sell the rims, too!! I scoured their site to see if I could find any information on their "wheels only" policy, but I could find nothing.

F*ck wheelmax!!!!!! I just tried to order a set of Axis Mod Sevens in 19" which that have on their site AND in just about every Tuner Mag on the market....BUT they don't sell those F'n wheels!! WTF why would you spend money to advertise something you dont even sell. Forget these guys...never mind my posts above this just totally blows me away.

Let me throw off my rant about Wheelmax to. I order 5zigen fno1r rims and what I got in the mail was Black Racing Pron1's. I argued with them for 1 week about their fuxup. All they did was keep on denying that they made the mistake. Seriously how do you put 5zigen as the same category as Black Racing and on the phone they kept telling me black racing is 5zigen. So I said whatever I just want my rims so I had to sign the return sheet for 190 and an additional 90 bucks to ship it out to them. They have weak a$$ customer service and they don't really give $hit. I ended up not buying rims from them again and bought from a local seller that was selling his rims. DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.

When I was in the market for rims/tires, I looked @ wheelmax for ideas, but had no intentions to buy there cuz the tire sizes they bundle are not meant for Maximas. 215wide on a Maxima? Puh-leeze! I called for 235 and the person said it'll never fit and I'm being a ricer. Bah...

As for Ventus, they're pretty good. Several AutoX guys run them and they said good bang for buck, like Kumho.

hey guys i know what your going through. in my several years in the car busines the only thing ive heard about wheelmax is negative. i am having some specials on several different wheels right now and this is my original post about them http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=251124.

We are the wholesale distributor for Axis wheels and therefore no other website can beat our prices unless they are not making any money off the wheels or are lying. In my personal opinion, i would go with a company that has good backing vs. a company like wheelmax that only causes problems.

Sincerely,
