first time racer

I am going to run for the first time next weekend...I have a 5 speed 98 max...my question is which tires should I use? I have the option of running my 18's with nitto 555 extreme 235/40/ZR18's....or I should I run my steel stock wheels and tires....the tires are some old worn out tires...they are 15's and that all I know about them.....second question is what tire pressure should I run? I was thinking around 15 pounds in the front?
* I know my nittos grip better, but I am wondring with the deflated stock tires could I make up for that and actually run faster? Any imput would be appreciated....and any other tips you may have for racing (on a track 1/4 mi.) for the first time. Thanks
Carson

There have been 3 of these questions in the past like 3 days... anyways, run with the smaller wheels. Pressure probly wont matter much. I pulled same times with stock pressure (better 60' actually) than i did with lowered pressure. Other tips - dont drive thru the water!

Do not lower your pressure on any street type tire. They have maximum traction when properly inflated. Also, excessive burnouts will cause street tires to lose traction (as opposed to getting stickier with slicks)...
