Is it safe to drive long distance with a bad coil?

Is it safe to drive my car a long distance (120 miles) with a bad coil if a misfire did not occur on the last crank and the car runs great?

This is all I can imagine.... You drove 100 miles, 20 miles away from your destination and in the middle of nowhere, suddenly your car shut itself down and you had to take out that emergency signal from your trunk. You opened your hood latch and you were and you couldn't figure what's wrong with the car. You hold your thumbs up, hitch-hiking, but nobody wants to give you a ride.

Now, it doesnt sound good, does it?

I'm asking because it SOMETIMES, from a cold start vibrates hard and the remainder of the day, it runs fine. Today, it ran perfectly; no vibrations at all due to the bad coil and this was from each crank (about 4 cranks today); I thought i'd ask since it doesn't run rough at all times.

I drove from jersey to Atlanta (and a lot of running around driving in between), and for about 2 weeks after getting back to atlanta w/ no problem.

depends how bad the coils are. If you have more then 1 going bad and the car just drives like a dog, then Its not good to drive it like that.
