This car is acually my moms, but her "service soon" light came on. She drives a 2000 GXE ( I have a 96 SE) She has about 55k miles and there doesnt seem to be anything wrong ( its not the gas cap ). i'm kinda new to the 5th gen so any help would be appreciated. My question is what is normally wrong around 55k on a 2000. Thank you.

O2 sensor almost sure!!!

 

I let my folks drive my car from CT to RI yesterday and the same light came on(so they called me) but when they came back I disconnected the (-) lead on the battery overnight and this moring was fine, so far, but if it comes back again I would have the error code check. BTW I have approx. 65K on my ride.

take it to autozone and have them read the error code. It could be the ignition coil problem that the 5th gen is known for

 

probably just a sensor...
