95 Hard Starting diagnosed = New ECU!! ?? Will a JWT work?
95 Hard Starting diagnosed = New ECU!! ?? Will a JWT work?
I had my car examined for the hard starting when first turning over problem i had.(Basically car never "catches" on the first ignition turn over, it just turns and turns as long as you will let it. And then usually the car starts on the 2nd or 3rd try.) I suspected something was not right - a bad sensor (CPS, TPS) or maybe a failed fuel pump or something. They went through 2 days of testing ... and discovered the failed part!
Turns out the ECM/ECU is dying so they want 1163.79 just for the part.
Could i buy a JWT ecu instead? or send mine to be reprogrammed?
Any one know ?
Help me out - And maybe some other 95/96s that have hard starting.
Thanks
BG
PS i suppose i could alternately get one from a junk yard?

sounds fishy, i would take to junkyard and find a max ecu and plug it in. see if it makes a differ ro same prob. GLE = auto so u gotta find a 95-96 auto ecu. i'm sure there are some in ur area

Bet ya 100 bucks it's a crank position sensor.
POS is notorious for failing or giving weak signals that cause hard starts. 50% of the time the ECU does not throw a code on this failure either.
When an ECU fails, your car is not going to run. If your getting it to eventually run, then the ECU is definately not your problem.
Are you having the hard starts both warm and cold?
