maximas with 200k +

I was wondering who else has a maxima with over 200,000 and what repairs have been done.

I got a 95 GXE with 215,000. I repaired

-Both axles due to CV boot breaking
-Belts
-Starter
-Engine coolant sensor
-Wheel bearing

I'm right there with you. I would add alternator, clutch and shocks.

Sounds like you just need a newer maxima with less miles! Use Carmax.com to find one! They always sell maxima's with Very low mileage, and excellent shape. That's where I bought mine... Don't waste money fixing up that old maxima.

I assume were talking signifiant repairs (more than tires, brakes, etc..)

- CV axles at approx 180K (150 bucks)
- Alternator at approx 195K (250 bucks)
- Starter at approx 165K (100 bucks)
- Oxy sensor at approx 140K (100 bucks)

- Never replaced any belts or hoses
- Never had any external lights burn out (although the bose display is dying, and the climate control backlights went a while ago)
- Never had the coolant changed
- Had trannyfluid changed for first time at 205K

And finally:
- Watched my Father's 2000 camry and sisters 1996 accord go in and out of the dealer with thousands in repairs.

Hey I am in no way affiliated with them. I was being sarcastic with the guy above that was promoting their website and telling us to dump our 'old' maximas.

230,000 miles and is still racing with a bunch of BMW's and mod. Golf's out there. Most of the items replaced were all at high 100K mile mark. I expected them to break down anywhere.
- starter - 60k mark (right after I went to this shady shop)
- alternator - 180k mark
- rear o2 sensor 224k mark - but went ahead replaced all of them
- KS - 224k mark
- coolant sensor 223k mark
- outer cv boots - 190k mark
that's it for the service costs. The rest is just for the normal wear and tear maintenance (brake pads, rotors, battery, etc). It's excellent to spend less than $1000 for 8 years of fun and never stranded on the road.

I have 364,000kms = approx 210,000 miles and have changed the following in chronological order as far as I can recall:

'95 SE 5-spd - bought from dealer in '97 with 77,000km (about 45,000miles)

- coolant temp sensor
- knock sensor (sssh resistor mod...been there for 2yrs)
- rear 02 sensor ( replaced by dealer cuz i went a week after I bought the car) Funny thing is, I think the knock sensor was bad at this time because of sluggish performance. They didn't change it, and i only discovered it amny months later)
- starter
- alternator
- battery
- timing chain tensioner
- Bose cd crapped out
- replaced bulbs for HVAC controls
- replaced clutch slave cylinder
- rebuilt tranny/kept stock clutch (this hurt...tranny should last longer)
- replace injector one ( recently )
- Replaced MAF with a used one ( recently)
- To do...replace both cv booths ASAP
- Probably won't do - fix leaky timing cover
