Falken Zex ZE-512 Rated #1

Hey Guys,

Consumer Reports just did a test on High Performance All Season Tires, and the ZE-512's won. Pickup the latest mag for Scores, but the bottom line was, it was the best tire in the category with and without considering cost. The only place that it placed only "AVERAGE" was in snow.

I know most people don't follow mag reviews, but CU does not accept money from Advertisments, so I tend to agree with alot of their ratings. (I am not trying to start a flame war!!!)

I know what tires are gracing my baby in a couple of months.

I'm pretty happy with them so far. The cost was among the best for 225/50/17 as well.
Note, they are note as performance oriented as some of the others including the craptenzas. Sidewalls are just a little mushy. However, it gives a very nice, quiet ride and wet weather traction is great.

Agreed. I'm running 245/40/zr18's on a 8.5" rim. A lot better than my ole Nitto 555's overall. I'll prob end up getting another set.

Is that why Bose speakers was rated really low only once and every year since then they have been in a least the top three. Now how could that be since the Bose speakers design hasn't changed in the last 10 years.

I used to believe in Consumer reports myself. Not anymore. If you want to know about performance tires check out sportcompactcarweb or any other tuner car resource. Leave vacuum testing for consumer reports.

I gotta double check mine, but I'm pretty sure I got these tires ---- only thing I HATE THEM! They are loud and traction isn't that great.

Just my .02

i am thinking about getting the Azenis ST115. they are designed for some performance while giving a very quiet ride. they also have a tread rating of 360 and are ZR rated

these tires are pretty sweet. A buddy of mine has them on his Max and they handle really well. Excellent in wet weather. We sell many of these per week at NTB as well.

Wet weather performance is really important to me. Unfortunately, I still have like 85 percent of my oem tire tred.. Thanks for the tip nonetheless...

I just ordered 4 of these from Discount Tire.
$108 a pop, and free UPS ground.
225/50 17.
Can't beat that with a stick!

(of course, everyone else is doing that too, since
they are out of stock )

Now that the rains have come to the Pacific Northwest I did notice a hint of hydroplaning after dropping off my wife at work.
Really early Saturday morning, the rains had stopped and with nobody around I thought I'd hit the boost on a long wet, straightaway. Just before hitting 8.5 lbs boost I felt a momentary loss of traction and then the tires reconnected to the road. It spooked me so I let off of the gas and vowed never to reattempt the performance on wet pavement.

Can you post a link to the tire review?

The report is in the November Consumer Reports PRINT magazine, so it won't be online. It's not really much of a review anyway. They basically just rated its performances with their usual circle symbols and commented that it gripped well dry and wet and that it was a comfy tire.

I just ordered a set ... 225-50-17... I've been running 235-45-17's... and I got 2 used Toyo Proxes T1-S to run at the track... Hopefully these will provide added traction at the track... My falken ST115's didnt really fair so good (20psi.. still peeled 1st and 2nd to redline AUTO!)
Luckily I know a tiresdirect wholeseller... $340 shipped
