Accident. Need a Body! where/how/who?

i got into an accident. my car is totalled but the transmission and engine are in good condition. so i want to look for a 90-94 (3rd generation) nissan maxima.

where is the best place to look? where can i look? what can i do to get a body?
how do i put a ad in the paper and in what section does it go under? anyone know of any sites where they sell things like this?

You would probably be better off parting out your car and selling the engine and tranny, then finding another Max that's complete.

Is your car an SE or GXE? I believe that there is a lot of re-wiring that needs to be done if you cross-swap a VE engine with a VG body and vise-versa. So if you were lucky enough to find a good donor body, it would have to be the same as yours, unless you wanted to rewire the engine electronics, too.

Max's are fairly inexpensive to buy, but the parts are pretty valuable.

If you are determined to get a body, try the cheapo ad papers. Do you have a Nickel Ads where you live?

I blew the motor on my old 88 Celica and sold the body (230k) for $500 in the Nickel Ads. You might want to try ebay, too. Sometimes you can find a car that's straight, but the drivetrain is suspect.

Good luck.

If you engine is good I'd try to find a good body in which you can jsut dump the engine in, some junk yard might have a body w/o and engine in trany which they'll sell for relatively cheap price...

Where are you located?
I'm trying to get a line on a couple of VG maxs if that helps.

Hi.

I've got a 1994 (white) that is in very good condition. It does have a problem though. It likes to stall without any ryhme or reason. It has just started sputtering a little bit, but I parked it about 3 weeks ago.

I would be very interested in selling it to a good home. The body is in excellent shape and so is the interior.

known probs...

1.) The power locks (operated from the drivers side) act squirrly sometimes. (You try to unlock the door and it mysteriously tries to relock the door.)
2.) The lights for the climate control mostly stay off, but sometimes they come on.
3.) The clock rarely displays.
4.) A couple of the pushbutton lights (cruise control, and another one I think) are burned out.
5.) The Bose system is particular which CD it will play.

It has a power sunroof which has a small crack in it, but it does not leak at all, and it functions great.

If this car would not stall on me, I would still be driving it. It used to run like a scalded ape!

I live in Louisiana. Interested?

I live in Baton Rouge, LA.

The car has absolutely NO rust anywhere on it. (We don't get snow here, so no salty roads.) The paint is in good condition and there are no dents on the car. The black pinstripes are faded a bit here and there.

The car has 184,000 miles on it (give or take a few...). I think that it's a GXE model, but not sure. (I will look tonight.)

It has cloth covered seats, not leather. The seats have no stains that I can remember and very clean inside. There is a single cigarette burn on the passenger seat which is about the size of a sweet pea. (The hole's edge is perfectly burned and it is not getting any bigger.)

The car has a new battery, and a new blower motor. There's a pigtail installed and coiled in the trunk. (To plug into a trailer's lighting harness.) It has a hideaway trailer hitch with a removable 7/8" ball.

I can email some digi-pics of the car tomorrow.

I forgot...the windshield has a big crack. It starts on the passenger side and extends to about midway in the center of the windshield. (Louisiana roads....)
