teins might be lower out of the box (yours (cut) are def lower than teins), but from what I hear eibach pro-kits are the stiffest compared to coilovers

No.

lower does not imply stiffer.

Tein spring rates are: 201lbs front and 269 lbs rear.

Let me do some search and see if i can find the Eibach rates.

I was going to call someone at Eibach but they have this listed on their site:

Only simple linear springs have a spring rate. A sophisticated progressive Eibach Pro-Kit spring has a load/deflection characteristic. The special design parameters are only accessable through Eibach Desk-Tech Database to Eibach’s exclusive partners.

That is interesting. Do you know the differance between "simple linear springs" and "sophisticated progressive ones"? Thanks for the info in advance!

a progressive rate spring has a variable spring rate depending on how much the spring is compressed. As you compress the spring, the spring rate increases. For small amounts of compression, the spring rate is relatively low. As you compress the spring more and more, the spring gets harder and harder to compress.

A linear rate spring has the same spring rate regardless of how much it is compressed. F=kX, where k=spring constant.

So I would assume that Eibachs would be the stiffer spring?

The Eibach Pro-kit is a progressive rate spring. However, I think that the spring rate of the eibachs is higher than that of the Teins... The fronts are probably the same, but I think the rear Eibachs have a higher spring rate which make them the stiffer spring...

Height doesn't determine the stiffness, but generally speaking, you would want a stiffer spring for more of a drop.

Teins/KYB GR2's would be stiffer than Teins/Tokicos. Youll be fine, just trim your bump stops if you go with the Teins. Most people on here are switching to Teins. I went from Eibachs to Maxspeeds and now Teins.

Is it a real harsh ride over bumps? And where did you get the Teins?

No, they are not harsh but you'll notice you have a lowered car. I bought them used from a maxima.org member. Check out some of the sponsors here on the org. Some do sell the Teins or just wait for the next group deal.

Yeah, go Sox!

Ask some of your Maxima buddies around your area for a ride....I'm sure someone here on the org lives out there that has the combo you want.

Maybe the bump stop? Hmm, really confusing. I hear people say Teins are harsher than Eibach and some say Eibachs are harsher. Hmm

This is my most recent debacle, whether to get the Eibachs or Teins, I was leaning towards the Teins because I heard that the drop would be lower and more of what I was looking for (front 2" and rear 1.5"). I still wanted to retain somewhat of a stock feel, so therefore I was ruling out the Eibachs but now I'm hearing that the Teins ride harsher than the Eibachs. Do Eibach offer a 2" drop on the front (which btw is the highest part of the Max)?

I've heard that Eibachs tend to sag after putting them on, does anyone know if this is true or does anyone here have that problem?

My Eibachs didn't sag at all. The only beef I had with Eibachs is that the drop was really uneven. I cut a coil off the front springs and it brought it down an extra .75", which put the front and rear at the exact height. Ride quality was not remotely compromised.

If anyone wants to chime in how chopped springs are bad and turn this into a flame war......

I installed my Eibach/GR2's in Jan '03. Carefully measured before and after drop. Front was lowered 1.75", back 1.0". Have NO sag since. Bad as the roads are here in Houston, would not want to go any lower or have any stiffer ride (especially with the 18's that are going on soon).

kwd2kSE, did you cut a coil on the front ones? It seems quite low on the front. Doesn't it supposed to lower like 1.3 inches in the front?

For some reason, 2K2-3s drop less than than 2K- 2K1s do. The Eibach drop actually looks even on early 5th gens. My front only dropped .75" in the front before we chopped them.
