I believe the BKR5E-11 are the plugs you want.

A niss tech told me to stick with the stock plug -- PFR5C-11, which is basically the OEM platinum plug that comes on the car when it's new.

I think the gap on any of them is .044. I would buy a gap checker (they are like $.99) just in case you get one that isn't quite right. They are "supposed" to come from NGK pre-gapped, but you never know.

http://www.ngk.com/ is the best place to look, you can enter your cars details there and find the right plugs.
For the VG its the BKR6ES-11 i believe.
VE's take the PFR5C-11 (Platinum) or BKR5EIX-11 (iridium tipped plugs) or if you're cheap, BKR5E-11 (sorry MrGone, )

Ok this may sound dumb, but what is so great about the Platinum or iridium plug apart from service life. I mean in the real world where money doesn't grow on trees and u don't have a performance engine. Are there real gains or is the money better spent else where.

Does anyone have any good proof. like a dyno run with brandnew gaped plug and then platinums?

I wanna get new plugs soon and wanna know whats better without being dumb. I have a VE engine and don't find changing plugs that bad.

cheers

Hehehehe, I went cheap on the plugs, but really expensive on the gear oil. Now I almost wish I just used normal gear oil.

Honestly, I haven't seen a real performance gain at all from using the platinum or iridium plugs instead of coppers. Really the only difference is what you mentioned, service life.

I haven't seen any dyno's with just spark plugs as the difference, and quite frankly, there probably isnt going to be any really noticeable difference on the dyno. Last weekend a bunch of local maxima's dyno'd and the difference between the two runs was generally atleast 2-3 hp, that did not include a 15 min cool down, but still... There might be some dyno comparison's like this on the internet, but every engine is different. Copper plugs do tend to produce a larger/hotter spark, which is one of the reasons why I decided to use them.

Well I'd say use the platinums because they came factory with them, that could be for a number of reasons, from just a maintence stand point to maybe the way the combustion chamber was designed, to even emissions. As I said, I'm using the NGK V-Power coppers, but almost everyone else on this board swears by platinums. Since you dont mind checking/changing them often you might want to consider the coppers aswell, but its really up to you.

Hmm I was going to put Denso Iridiums IQ series plugs in mine cause thats what I had in my Celica and I felt a difference in there but if you guys say to stay away from them and stick to stock I will.

Ngksparkplugs.com
Ngk.com is a seller of plugs not the manufacturer. It does look rather informative though

See thats what I said people only say how good they are after they have taken out the old crappy plugs. Would be interesting to see if there are any real differance not just 1 or 2 hp. And if they are still that good a month or so down the track.

Would rather put in good oil, bugger do that anyway
