curious about CONSULT

hey ive looked thru al the search engines , the nissan site and the search here but i cant find the price to buy a consult. I saw one on ebay for 1995.00 but i wasnt sure if that was the real price of not. if its that expensive then FORGET IT ! ive seen other scan tools for 3-5 hundred and wondered if the consult was the same. Does anyone have one ? what did you get it for ?

Those things ARE that expensive. More, even. Last I heard, they're around 3k... so $1995 is a bargain if you look at it. And if you've found another scan tool, make sure it'll fit our cars - we use a different type of port than other cars.

I'd like to see someone get one of these. Me would be good, but I don't have the money this minute.

An actual Nissan Consult unit is $3700, with just one "card." The cards are 16mb PCMCIA look-a-likes that are used for updating ECU programs, adding new features, or diagnosing unusual problems on the newer models (Consult-II or Consult OBD-2). For OBD-1 cars, you really only need the card thats included with the unit at $3700. At the dealership, they're required to purchase all the cards, at least one of each desipte the number of Consults they have. All cards + the Consult-I is $8900.

Also, Ash at Z1 motorsports is rumoured to be making a sort of ConZult clone that will monitor all the data a Consult-1 will for the 300ZX, and even change a few parameters on the fly. For Maximas, however, who knows?
