#$%* I may have to go to New York this weekend. Not sure where, but sure not gonna be manhattan. FUC# FUC# FUC@ FUC@
IF, and this is a HUGE IF, i take the max i'm already planning to keep it at a paid parking with a guard. How much can i trust one of those? Please console me here. FU@K!ng country boy going to new york to get HIDs jacked. **** **** SHI!T

Knowing how NY is with HIDs, I might just rent a 2k2 max and take it to one of those paid parkings. But then i'd take the HIDs once back in town and sell the ****@rs.

If it makes you feel any better, I've parked my car many times on the streets of Manhattan and have survived the HID theft scourge.

Same here...So far I have parked in Manhattan about 5 times each for over 3 hours. Just depends on where you're going to be.

try to park so it's inconvenient to get to the front of the car...when I have to park at the airport garage i find a guardrail that's a little higher than the bumper so it rests almost against the grill... someone would have a VERY hard time getting the headlights out without a)moving the car or b)moving the guardrail.

if that's not an option, park where it will be EXTREMELY visible. DO NOT go the top floor of the parking garage to 'get away' from other cars.

I'm not too young to rent. It's number one on the list.
I'm not going to Manhattan, otherwise i wouldn't be worried.
Can't park besides a wall, i still don't think that'll prevent the theft. I'd hate for them to take the whole damn car just for the lights.

I'm sure i'll rent though, just hate having to NOT enjoy my cars because of some **** like HID theft.

yeah this way you won't get 1000 bugs on your front bumper and less miles

this way you get to beat on another car and give your max a rest

the city isn't THAT bad. if you park it in a garage, it's sure to be safe. park in one of those towers where they take your car up to the spot in an elevator.

What part of NY are you going to be? I'm sure you can find a garage even if you are in Queens or Brooklyn. They might not have as much as manhattan but they do exist.

oh man, are you kidding me? This is what you spend your time worrying about? It's ok chill out. I've parked my car on NYC streets (flushing, manhatan, whatever) and it makes no difference. A guy is going to watch your car? I think have nothing to worry about.

I've seen the headlights get jacked a few times, but it doesn't 'always' happen. Have some faith in the fact bad things don't always happen.

Wanna Have some fun?

All you need are these things.

One 2002/03 Maxima with its HIDs.

One Remington .300 Ultra Mag Rifle with night scope. (preferably sighted in)

One box of 20 Ultra mag .300 cartridges.

One vacant room or appartment (second floor or higher) that will give you a clear view of your Maxima's front end.

Leave your Maxima Parked on the side street and then go to your apartment/room and then stakeout your ride. Have your clip loaded with 5 rounds or its maximum capacity in case of misses or extra perps on the scene.

When you see a suspicious hoodlum(s) make a move for your HIDs, line him up in your crosshairs and then let him have it POW! If you see a second or third perm, quickly open and close the bolt action loading another round. POW! let perp #2 and #3 have it if available. With skill, you can rid the world of low life scum. Have fun watching perps fall over dead and puke blood.

Sorry to sound Psycho...... I'm just frustrated about the whole HID theft fiasco as well. I don't like having to worry about my car and paying deductables to replace lights. If I ever loose my HIDs by theft, I seriously will consider getting rid of the max. Its a sad truth.......

Thanx for all the replies guys. I'm not sure which part of NY i'm going to. Will know probably tomorrow. But either way, if i take my car it'll be to take it to a paid parking with a guard as i mentionned. I'll try to rent though. I'm old enough, i'm already starting to look for a nice rental. Not trying to get anything less than a maxima. I just love my car that much and hate to have to not enjoy it because of stuff like this.

And oh yeah, 92 SE-R 02 SE i am afraid of getting my headlights stolen. If you call that being gay, then you can call me Mr. Homo himself.

Pay for parking... I always do that in NYC. Throw the guy an extra $10, and he will park your car in the front so you can hop in & leave when you get there! $30 to park is way cheaper than a $500 deductible. (actually, my deductible is ZERO, but who cares)

All you have to do is take the headlights off and put them in your trunk. Its only two small screws to take them off. Problem solved.

YEA crazy ish happened yesterday. my sis was on the ferry before the one that crashed. i was shtn my pants prayin se was allright.
as for parking the car in Manhattan, i am there almost every weekend. either downtown or midtown. i leave it parked on the street in a busy area or well lit area. so far no problems. and the garages are pretty safe there too.

I *ALWAYS* rent a car whenever I go on vacation, so I don't have to stress about my car getting jacked, dinged, F'd with, but IF that's not an option this is what I'd do.
