Exhaust Manifold

Im having a problem with my car and I was gonna ask if anybody has had any problems with their Exhaust Manifold in their 89 - 94 Maxima. I have been told that it needs to be replaced and I think its the one from the windshield side. Now I would like to know if the dealer is the only one that I can get it from or if their is some other place that would sell it. Also if someone just could give me a price range for this kind of problem I have been told for a new manifold and worksmansship it would go for around $700.00.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could please help me out thankyou.

I just had my rear exhaust manifold replaced and it ran me 300 dolla and i supplied all the parts. for the VE they have to drop the engine a few inches in order to access the rear manifold. It is a timely job. I have exhaust manifolds for sale if you have a VE

Hey Kevincleff, Would the exhaust manifold from a VE fit on the VG? i'm in the market for a rear manifold for my VG.

hey. are you sure you need a new manifold? it's probly your manifold STUDS, the parts are only about $65 from the dealership.

labor is crazy though, probly around 500 for labor alone...

NO it will not fit, the VE ports are oval-like, the VG ones are round.

I have the same problem with mine. I plan on fixing it in about a month or so. Boy am I gonna have fun with this one. Anyone wanna help???

maximumpowa21 - VG and VE are the different engines for the 89-94 Max. If you look under your hood on the firewall, there should be metal plate that tells you. The VG has a timing belt where as the VE has a timing chain.

Mine was close to $1000 with parts and labor to replace the rear manifold from Meineke. I think i really got ripped off though.

One thing to make sure though----before you go through with this, make sure the front one isnt leaking as well. Mine was, and now i have to pay an extra $500 in labor since it isnt being done as the same time as the rear one. Grrrrr.

Hey, if you're ambitious, buy the coated one's from Pacesetter and tell the rest of us how they turn out. You can get them for $320 shipped. Give the forum a search for the link.

I'm curious if anyone else has had positive feedback on that header/manifold combo, or is Pacesetter still unreputable?

The VG is in the GXE's, and is SOHC. You have the SE. Check out the FAQ's.

the manifold would only need to be replaced if it was cracked from exhaust pressure. they crack when you get a leak at the manifold. this pressure release causes the manifolds to warp which inturn can cause them to crack.
i'm getting mine done for 250.00. if i have a cracked manifold it'll be a little more.
if you guys have cracked manifolds you should be out at wreckers looking for maximas. you can get a manifold there for anywhere in between 50-100 bucks.
anyone who payed more than 400.00 for this to be done on a vg is being totally fu@%ed in their ****.
i think 500.00 would be a little high even for a ve.
