Yes it is worth it. Costs nothing, and you don't have to damage anything in the process so all can be put back up together at any time. Now, low end defenitely pulls harder, simply by looking i can keep it at 2k rpm and pull as fast as i did before at 2.5k rpm. No butt dyno, just tach and stop light dyno. IHO that is more accurate ;p. Not sure about the high end, cant feel anything but then at 90mph it will take a lot of hp to make a difference. I just have a bit more power in the low range for sure. And it sounds like a V6. Ill put in a KnN filter and change to synthetic in about 300 miles so ill see if that does anything (probably won't but still good to do). Here are the pics (it really looks ghetto.. ill get some real clamps soon enough)

The things I removed:

The air box...

The now removed 90 degree pipe that connected the air box to the resonator.

here ya go. you dont need to take all that stuff out though unless you want to put on the 'vacuum cleaner hose' or a pipe.

hmmm, you should have used the Kirby attachments instead... dont forget to use the angled attachment to get the dirt in those hard to reach spots..

IMO thats nasty, why would u want a water drain on the bottom of a 20k car? oh well, its your boat, let it float

usually a GAB refers to cutting the top off your filter holder (the piece that then fits down into your airbox). you just removed the filter holder and put the filter in by itself, correct? either way....achieves the same thing. plus, you don't have to buy a new filter holder to go back to stock.

also, a traditional OSCAI would be routing a hose down to the exterior - hense the name osCAI (Cold Air Intake). if i understand you correctly, you just removed that 90 degree elbow that leads to the white silencer - creating somewhat of a WAI.

have you capped off/sealed your stock intake?

I wouldn't cap off the stock scoop. It actually brings in cold air (can't remember the post). I found though that keeping the resonator connected yielded more low end for me until i put a big'ol 3" PVC pipe going straight down with a scoop on the end.

i capped off the stock intake, BUT i had a true OSCAI (WITH the hose connected to a scoop that vented from under the car).

Yep i just removed the filter holder as a new OEM part is 100$ (somebody had it checked in one of the old posts i came across)...

Didn't go with the scoop, or anything that comes near the pavement because I dont want to risk anything getting sucked up during my usual road trips...

Uhm yeah it is half CAI half WAI but with winter temperatures, it really shouldn't make a difference, right?

MAF should be allright as long as there is a decent filter on there. Don't think MAF failure has been proven to be caused by intake mods, unless something flies in it and clogs it.
