Oh My Damn!...the Power!!

I'm sorry but this is too much, I just gotta tell yall. I just bought a POWERBD1500 from a pawn shop in my town and they only wanted $300. Anyway I hooked it up to my 2-12" hx2's and then I felt it...B-A-S-S like Ive never felt before. I am soooooo happy I bought this amp! But the problem is that the gain is all the way down and when I turn up the volume, the subs sound like Im pushing them too hard (on the hardest bass hits though.)So now Im thinking I need to upgrade to some power hungry 15's. Thanks for your time.

who makes that amp first of all?? and secondly try turning down ur bass of the stereo, that might help some. but that amp is good as u say it is then it is a little to strong for ur subs. but nice buy though man. latinmax

as long as he's not underpowering the subs it should be ok. underpowing is the worst you can do to them. don't get me wrong, you can also over power a sub but if those things handle 500 watts rms they will take quite a bit of power to blow. also, you should never use the bass and trebel control on your hu. you should always control that with the amp so you get better quality and you will also have a lesser chance of hurting them.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why is underpowering so bad for the sub? How much under the RMS is underpowering, My Bro has an amp in his car that puts out 120 Watts RMS and a sub that handles 150 watts RMS and it seems fine, doesnt look/sound/feel like its hurting it

30 watts shouldn't be too bad. I'm not exactly sure why it's so bad actually, but everywhere i read they say not to underpower the sub. I don't really know what the limit would be. I'm sure a 100 watt difference may do something. 50... possibly but probably not likely. I'll look into a bit more.

pushing an underpower amp can cause your speakers to clip. clipping is BAD for subs, or any speakers for that matter (please correct me if i'm wrong). that's why many people use amps at or a little above the subs's rms power rating.

Rockford Fosgate makes it. Its rated at 750rmsx1@4 ohms and 1500rmsx1@2 ohms. I dont have the birth sheet but these always carry more than whats rated.
