Test N Tune: Frankencar, Injen, Technosquare

Track Time Test:

Hey guys, certainly no professional here. I have been "testing n tuning" modifications made to the Chariot. Check out the findings. Discuss if you like.

Mods: Ypipe, Test Pipe, B pipe, Magnaflow Muffler, UR Underdrive Pulley
Used the frankencar setup then switched to injen, then added technosquare ecu, all other mods the same.

i was just discussing that wife my wife. i have to say im happy. i got it on the group deal for $388 dollars.

here is why. With the technoquare/g force upgraded ecu I am running in the 14.4's 97% of the time. My worst time with it last night was a 14.50, which was my old best ! So I like the consistency and knowing im 14.4. Now compared to not having it my best was 14.50 but on the very next run I would get a 14.8, and there was a bigger margin of times/e.t..

Im very happy with the consist times im bringing in now. and 14.39 was awesome !

Did I expect more ? Well I think everyone does, but I really wont know how good or bad this improvement is until the more knowledgable guys pass through, and others with ecu upgrades.

P.S. I lined up to a Acura RSX Type-S and smoked him 14.39 -14.9 ..thank you Technosquare it makes every dime worth it.

i will put up some videos, a 350z beat me by a car length but his board went crazy and showed a freak time, battled it out with a TT fairlady z .. it was a good night and the maxima with the ecu upgrade is moving into a league of cars that would have waxed me a few months back.. this is getting fun !

do you get that same pull after 3500rpms that my auto gets? im not sure how it would feel in a 5 speed and figured it would be more noticable in the auto since it takes forever to shift

Congrats Chris! I told you the ECU would definitely improve your times. Maybe if you could lower your 60ft. a bit more, you would do even better? I'm not sure if you could lower your 60ft. anymore with the street tires.

Congrats man. Those ETs are sweet and you can definately see the pull down low. Post your best slip with the run down of 60', 300', etc.

Here is the best slip:

r/t: .214
60' 2.17
330 6.054
1/8 9.272
mph 76.13
1000 12.037
1/4 14.398
mph 95.31

im working on posting slips, and videos ..the usual. i gave a 350z everything i was worth and it only nosed out the win by a tiny bit something like 14.4 -14.3, my best time posted here was against a acura rsx type s, he ran a 14.9 to my 14.39

i will post the videos, i also ran a 300zx tt..i just got lucky to line up to the z cars ...

On street tires thats pretty as good as it gets, to better that 60' would take drag radials or slicks. Given that trapspeed the car should turn a 13.9 @ 96-97mph on slicks with a 1.8x 60'.

Tapped out? You're probably pretty close. 2.1 60 foots are something most us would kill for. Your skill is definately there, but most your launch is coming from the fact that the track must really prep well. 2.0s have been done on NA 4th gen street tires, but it's extremely rare. I'd think you could possibly get a low 14.2@96mph with a high 2.0 and some colder weather. Since you're down south, I'd imagine these tracks stay open all year round.

Want to do 13s? Get slicks and be done with it.

I noticed significant gains after installing my GForce ECU also. I think it was money well spent and the price is worth it compare to what JWT is selling there ECU upgrades for. BTW I think with the raise limiter on the JWT ECU will only hurt your engine in the long run because all that red lining will take its toll on your engine.

I think I predicted 14.5 or a bit lower with the ECU.

They are still working on my ECU.

You act like if you have a 7K rev limiter you have to take it there in every gear all the time. I have a 7.2K rev limiter and only use it a few time a week.

Dave, this track is excellent. I heard it is one of the top rated tracks in the country. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. Even my auto can get 2.2 60ft. at this track. Even dipped down to 2.1 60ft. when I had the SC. Both were on street tires. Just ask Mardigrasmax. He used to go to this track all the time when he was down here. I know this place is too far for you, but if you come downhere, I guarantee you will run your best time ever.

Your response made it sound like the JWT ECU is bad for the motor, which is not true. What is bad for a motor is a driver who beats on their car regardless of a 6.5K or 7k rev limiter.

So show me how reving to 7K is bad for my car.

Very nice times with the technosquare ecu. What is your launching technique for your 2.1x 60' times? Do you burnout before you launch? Please post details.

I think the track is just that sticky which allowes his to launch at higher rpms without wheel hop and wheel spin.

With the new technosquare times I tried to keep the left tire out of the water as much as possible. Sometimes there is just no getting around it.

Then im spinning the tires until chirp ! Basically, getting the sand, and dirt and any water off.

I stage 1, wait until the other guy is up, then while im waiting I get the right feel on the clutch.

Then I ease up to stage two and press the gas to make the car sit on 2500 rpms or close to it.

IM GONE !

Thats some really good information, thanks for posting it all. I was actually hoping the technosquare would do a little bit more for performance, but its still definatly a great mod

Well think about this. At first glance I wasnt sure about the upgrade. I mean come on !! 14.50 to 14.39 what is that a .11 increase !

But after closer observation here is what is awesome about the ecu upgrade for my max.

before: My very best time was 14.50 and I had only ran in the 14.5's (2) other times. So a typical night at the track would be 14.8, 14.6, 14.9, 14.6, 14.7, 14.9, 14.5, and so on ! Once in a blue moon I would get 14.5 but the very next run a really high 14.8.

Here is where the ecu is shinning for me. You can bet your last dollar I will run a 14.4 like clockwork.
The car is a consistent 14.4 .. i even did a trial run with a sloppy 2.3 launch and nailed a 14.66.

while the results were nothing like what i expected, the bottom line is, you will have to run under a 14.4 to beat this maxima of mine ! unlike before when you never knew what i was going to put up.

this is what the technosquare ecu has done for me. again i thought hey if my best was 14.50 then my new best should be 14.25 or something, but it didnt work out like that at all.

you know maybe comparing the 14.50 wasnt even a fair way to look at how the ecu performed in the first place. maybe taking 14.6- 14.7 runs which were the beef of my runs and now comparing that to the new 14.4's ..

I can say this ! If i had a 4th generation car. I would be getting this upgraded before NOV 1st ! it is 388 dollars after Nov 1st to my understanding its 595 i think !

trust me !

The engine can handle hitting the 7k limiter, as long as you dont sit there bouncing off it when you should be shifting. I wouldn't be suprised if nissan set the limiter where they did just because with the USIM, there is no reason to go higher. If im not mistaken, as long as the valves arent floating (?), and you arent making enough power at that particular RPM to blow the engine, there is little to worry about.

Ummm a RT of under 0.500 is a foul anyway...

But if you want a RT of 0.214 then go when you see the first or second green light (not on a pro tree though).

I can even show you how to get a RT of 0.000... go as soon as you finish staging, before any of the tree lights start coming on! haha

But RT doesn't count towards ET anyway, unless you are in competition like bracket racing or something.
