Help: Water pump replacement

I want to get my water pump and belt replaced. Can someone give me a good estimate of what it should cost so I know I'm not getting ripped off. And I'm also having power steering problems also. Will replacing the water pump help eliviate this problem? Thanks

Well I'm about to have my belt, water pump, and seals replaced, and the labour estimate is about $350-$400 CDN (about a 6-8 hour job I was told), and parts possibly another $200-$350 CDN - but I'm not too sure yet about the cost for the parts. Hope I'm not getting ripped off, but that's what I was quoted.

I looked up the parts:
water pump 34.99
water gasket 1.29
water pump belt 12.99

total + tax 52.72

Then I got an estimate today.
$225 for 5hr labor.

So its gonna be about 280-300 bucks for everything.

I got my water pump replace for $150 for labor plus $35 for the pump. Got it done by a guy that works for a Auto store who fixes cars on the side.
