Damn Maxima Transmissions! Pass Inspections!?

I know you guys know about the 3rd generation transmission slipping problem. i cant be the only one. i had a maxima and it had not even 100k miles and the transmission started slipping. i had to rebuild it, and it happened 2 more time after i had it rebuilt.

so i go to buy a new maxima, and the same thing! this car has 175k miles but still. the transmission does the same exact thing.

my experience with maximas tell me that they make hell of great engines but when it comes to transmissions, especially automatic ones.....the transmissions just dont last!

anyway, i wanna buy this maxima anyway and have it rebuilt or something. but i want to know. Will it pass inspection so i can get a sticker even with the transmission problem. i mean its not that that bad.....it still drives fine if you dont push the pedal down too fast. so if you drive regular on the street, u shouldnt notice the problem until u get on the highway. but maybe on the highway, u would want to use overdrive sometimes.

Will the maxima pass for an inspection sticker with the transmission slipping?

they don't drive my car when they inspect it... and transmission should have nothing to do with emissions... should pass.

rephrase in english please. Also what do engines have to do with this? Transmissions suck on maximas so be happy you got that much out of it. Since you bought the car, guessing you're not the original owner, how do you know the other owner/s took good care of it???

if you beat on ANY tranny it will break, but

BACK ON TOPIC

I'd like to know what the tranny has to do with passing inspection. If you can drive it there and it passes emissions, how would they even know the tranny was slipping?

What I would do, is instead of spending several thousands in the long run repairing the old and slow autotragic transmission in the 3rd gen, find a rebuilt VE 5spd (or any 5spd if you don't have any preference for limited slip) transmission and swap that in there.

If you take care of it, the transmission should outlast the car.
