New Products For Our Cars

I am in the process of designing new products for our cars and would like some input. Other ideas would be appreciated as well. Here are the idea... Please Vote Accordingly

1. Gauge pod in the second din opening of the radio opening.
2. Gauge pod in the stock clock location with a relocation of the clock
3. Headrest Covers for those of us who have headrest TV's
4. Custom Shift **** and Shift Boot for auto transmissions to make it look like you have a stick
5. Custom Switch Plates in either the second din opening, ash tray/coin tray opening, or optional equiptment plates(ie. heated seats opening)

OTHER IDEAS ARE WELCOME BUT PLEASE PUT SOME INPUT ON THESE IDEAS THAT ARE FLOATING AROUND

didnt say any of them were for power, but like i said, give us ideas, it does take time and money to produce products. where a better place but the people that know what they want.. fellow maxima owners. i know what id like, but just too much money to produce. please give specific ideas of products that are not currently made.

I would cough up some dough for the grill that trenz makes for the 02-03 max to make one for my 01max and to change my clock light white/blue and the ac control deck

the grille was another thought, but as far as the light color, its a matter of changing the stock leds to another color, its not hard, just requires some soildering. not as easy as 123. i guess i could sell the led's and instructions with pictures, but i will get back to you on the grille.

for the headrest covers leather wouldnt be a problem, but for cloth, finding the exact pattern might be a problem

WTF is your point?

Personally, I think gauges in the second din opening would be cool, but I probably would have no use for them.

1. Easily done yourself. Several peeps have.
2. Not enough room. You could fit one, but to make a shroud that would fit 2 or more would look plain goofy.
3. Are you talking to hide them from theiving eyes? This could be a very generic product, not Maxima specific. But a decent idea.
4. Already done. Most people just get the manual shift surround (which includes the boot). Looks great. And of course, the auto-****-that-looks-like-a-manual-**** is already a popular thing at any accessory store.
5. Easily done yourself.

There's a write-up (if you can call it that) somewhere for the clock. Just put some red cellophane over the clock and it makes it white. Then another layer of blue cellophane to make it blue (but at that point it gets kind of dark and hard to see).

you know i thank you for all of your opinions, but i am also looking for ideas of new products. all ideas would be greatly appreciated. cosmetic stuff would be what would be made. performance stuff would be a little harder to do since i do not have the lab to test or create such a product, but i would contact several companies to make a prototype and see if they would put it into production if enough are interested. so just give me some ideas and i will take it from there

ive been reading a few posts and it seems that blacking out the chrome trim would be something that people would want. i could make new ones that are already black and snap into the factory holes. this way there is no screwing up what you already own. they would probably be made of fiberglass, but once painted and installed no one will know the difference.

i have seen #4 but not for our cars, but in order for it to look right you would have to use the manual trim plate because of the odd shape of the auto transmission plate, so it would be a complete package. boot, shifter, and cover plate from ash tray down to the bottom

I don't remember who, but there were at least a few who did it. There was a thread on it maybe a month ago. Just order the manual shifter surround from Dave B. (daveb@adpub.com or 888-254-6060) and pop it in. Like I said, it comes with the boot attached.

How about an exact replica of the AE automatic shifter...but one that fits regular '00 and '01s without the need to buy the entire shifter assembly or to hack the stick? Basically, the AE automatic shifter for '00/'01 but with an improved installation design.

I'd pay for that!

Peace.

Son the only mod I am interested in is for someone to make LED tailights with the chrome casing or something to that effect for the 2000 and up Max. That TIHS would be so hot.

the gauge pod in the stock clock location is in the process of its trial stages. the mold was started earlier today, and i will keep you posted on the final product. as far as price i am unsure, but i think 2 models will be made. 1 with the clock and one sold with a package with a new head unit dash kit utilizing the second din opening as the clock and probably some switched and led's maybe for neons or whatever you want to connect to it. we will see becuase of moving the clock wiring. i do not know how difficult this will be because no one wants to cut their wires to extend them so i will see if an extension could be produced for that. thanks for the feedback and other ideas are greatly appreciated. of coarse my car is being used for the prototype so 02-03 owners if they want a mold will have to contact me at a later date. a friend of mine has a 03 so i can test these products on that before its release. Pricing soon to come with pictures as well. Difficulty of mass production will depict price. As for now there is no shop, im doing this out of my garage, but who needs more. i already have a company but a shop isnt necessary YET...

How about AE pedals for '02's-'03s without having to hack the accelerator on those vehicles.

Maybe a nice ae type dead pedal as well.

When I installed the AE pedals on my 2k3, I didn't even remove the accelerator pedal. Just place a mirror on the floor behind the pedal, and use a screwdriver to undue or fasten the metal clip. I know some people remove the whole assembly, but you don't have to. It's probably a quicker install that way anyway.

By the way, the manual shift boot for the auto would be cool. I would like to look into this. If anyone knows where any pics are, that would be greatly appreciated.

im going to make a prototype for each product one at a time. this week the gauge pod should be finished, so give me a week or 2 and i will give the shift boot a whirl. but im probably going to produce a completly new shifter column for the dash so it looks proper. so it might me a little more expensive than just buying a shift boot, a shift ****, and rigging it, but at least it will look right. as soon as the prototypes are done and mass production is possible, a web site will be put up for everyone to be able to purchase these products from.

I vote for a custom intake manifold. Something like is on the 350Z could net 15-20 whp.

I would be interested in this. It would have have to be OEM quality though.

there is a single din gauge pod. it is made by glow shift direct. you can ifind it on glowshiftdirect.com. i have there triple gauges A-pillar pod in my car and it looks amazing so check it out. but the only problem is that you need to have a dash kit that is able to surrport a double din radio. but i believe you can find one on scosche's website as well as on crutchfield's. i have seen a gauge pod that looks like the stock guages in the 350z which would be above the air vent which would be custom but if they make it, it would look amazing. for performance part i think that they should make a intake manifold for the vq30de cuz there is a company that make one for the vq35de but they claim it wont fit the vq30. also i think that a company should make a cold air intake system that would be simular to the place racing intakes cuz i want one but the stopped making them so if any one has one for sale the please pm or some company should make one. sorry for the long post but just wanted to inform peps about the single din kit that most people dont know that aready exists.
