recently i have turned the key while my max was already running.... i did not turn the ignition for too long, but it made a pretty loud grinding noise...... i have done this twice, can anyone tell me what part of the car is affected, and is this harmful to my engine??? any info would be appreciated.. thanks

 

i've done it one or two times myself, back when i had remote start. You forget car is on lol. I would THINK it effects your starter if anything cause u r over cranking it? I dont see it effecting the engine...

 

starter teeth and the teeth on your flex plate(flywheel if your 5sp)

 

to answer your real question, you probably didn't do any harm, but DON'T DO IT AGAIN
