removing and replacing gauge needles on 99
removing and replacing gauge needles on 99
sup guys, i have my 2nd cluster here and im debating on getting the needle kit, mainly so my needles will be brighter and easier to see...BUT I have a few questions regarding the removal of the needles. i found this link http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hlight=needles which makes sense, BUT how do i physically remove the needles? Do i just pull up on them or do i use this whole calibration point thing??
SO i did a test using the other method where u remove the needle stop, and let the needle fall down to where it stops. then u make a mark, and start turning counterclock wise and pull up on it. so i did all that and the needle came off fine and put it back on and followed the directions. now my question is this....if i remove the needle stop again and i have to push it down to the point where resistance starts AND its at the same point, did i install it right????
also how do i remove the fuel and temp correctly so as to not break them..
thanks
Cris

thanks clee, that does help actually...... but im curious if that process works for a 99, and if i do everything correctly, and i remove the needls stop again, and it falls to my calibration point, did i do it right?
Yes it works for a 99.
If you did everything correctly and followed those directions, and it falls back to the calibration point, then you did it right.
It's not as hard as you make it sound. I did it several times when I had my indiglo gauges and as long as you take your time and follow Cheston's directions, you'll be fine.
