My MAF went but it ended up a good experience

The other day I got in the car and started it, only to realize that the yellow lights on the right side of my dash (check engine, TCS, etc) were not going off. I put the car in gear and very quickly realized I wasn't getting much more than 2200 rpm out of it. Dreading what I immediately knew to be the problem and limped home on back roads.

First thing this morning I called my dealer and told him about my dilema. 37K miles on my car and I had a frankencar intake with an Apexi filter. They had me bring it in and warned me that it might be bad news. NO Sh%t!!!!

3 hours later they called me up and told me I could come pick it up. When I got there they handed me the keys and said we replaced the sensor, have a nice day. No bill, nothing. They did it for free and out of warranty. They put my mileage down as 36K.

I won't mention the dealers name for fear I could get them in trouble, but I am more than happy (ecstatic) with the service I've received from them.

I did ask what makes this happen and they said that sometimes if the sensor gets wet it can make that happen. Funny thing is I just got my car out of the body shop for a fender bender and they were gracious enough to steam clean my engine.

Is there a way to protect the MAF so that it doesn't ever get wet again?

Cheers,

Bill
