How does this deal sound?

Hey guys...
Right now I have a homemade MDF box w/2 12" subs, but one is blown... Rather than buy another sub, and/or possibly have to build another box (the one I have now is from a different car - I'm not sure if it'll fit in the Max or not), I was just browsing the web and found this... One of my buddies works at Best Buy and can get stuff at 5% over cost, so I figured this might not be to bad...

I'm kinda curious to know what the frequency response is for this setup. The fact that they do not include that information for some equipment on Best Buy's site kinda makes me leary of buying car audio from them.

Unless they took measurements in every available auto with the sub mounted in about 10-20 different locations per car and various amounts of luggage, groceries, occupants etc. the measurements would be useless.

A more useful number would be the box Q. Or the full T.S. parameters. But less than 1% of the speaker buying population have an idea what the numbers mean.

also remember that bandpass do not sound as good as sealed in a Max. I have heard the dual subs in the store and they are not as accurate as a sealed enclosure.

but in store display won't sound the same if the stuff was in your car due to the environment of the setup.

Bandpass will NEVER sound good.

If cost is around $120, you can do better with an ED subwoofer and your own box.

Never say never. Bandpass made correctly can sound good. I've just never heard anyone build one for an SQ setup.

oh ok, if the person designing the bandpass REALLY knows how to do it, it will work great, but not many know the correct way to do it.

Yes and no, yes it could sound great, by meaning more bass than a sealed. But no, meaning not as accurate as a sealed box. I really don't care for bandpass boxes.
