Blowtenzas are really scaring me.

I have about 10000 miles on my Max, and one day when i was driving in the rain at 65mph on the storrow, a car in front of my slammed on its brakes, and i braked also. To my suprise, the car started to skid, or hydroplain... dunno, but I had to swirl to avoid hitting his car.

To make a short story even shorter, winter is coming up and im scared that those tired will be the end of my car. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON GOOD ALL SEASON TIRES??

So far I hear the Continental ContExtremes are nice, but they are expensive.... any other suggestions on tires?

Probably most tires you read about on the org are better... I got Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ($$$$$$) and they're excellent in the rain (no snow here yet)

BTW, you said ContiExtremeContact is expensive? I thought those were supposedly cheap as hell too ($110-$130/tire? Michelins are $200/tire... that's what you call "pricey")

If you say the ContiExtremeContact is expensive, then you'll have to start making your own tires to find cheaper and tires.

Cooper Lifeliner SLE Touring in the stock 255/50r17 SE size. 20k miles and a year later they are awesome in sun, snow and rain. Another option is the Mastercraft tire in the stock size..... made by Cooper too.

Mastercraft tires SUCK! They're some no-name crap that dealers/mechanics throw on the car as cheap replacements. I had mastercrafts on my wheels when I got the car, and they hydroplane, peel out, don't grip...worst tires I've ever seen in my life. Get the ContiExtremeContact, you'll be happy

Just got them last night

This is a thread I posted about my buddy picking up a set of Continental ContExtremes from Tirerack for $91 per tire. Good info.

The conti's can be had for cheap. Depends on where you look. I think it's tirerack that has them for ~$100/tire. If you try sears/ntb/discount tire, that's when they get to be crazy expensive. IF you're like me and insist on having a store to take your tires to if something goes wrong, print the price off tirerack and NTB will match it.

Continental ContExtremes from Tirerack in 235/45/17 for $111 per tire. Not sure where you heard $175 per tire, but they were morons. You can get all four depending on the shipping charges to your house for around $400.

I have Mastercraft Avenger LSRs on my Max, and I've put over 10k on them, and they're still fine, rain, snow, dry. And they are made by Cooper. I also had Masters on my Cherokee when i jumped a granite curb at about 30, and I didn't f*** them up

That 175 was no doubt for a "brick and mortar" place. I saw the same when I looked at them a few months ago, and the're all high like that. For these tires, tirerack is extremely low compared to everybody else. Find someplace that matches off tirerack and go w/ that place.

I drove my Max @ 90 MPH with the Bridgestones on it. No hydroplaning at all. If you were able to swerve around the car in front of you, you didn't fair too badly. I'm sure that your ABS allowed you to swerve and the tires had a part in that maneuver also. I would rather have different tires when it comes time for replacement but I'm happy with the originals so far.

Not a fancy tire, but check out the Kumho 716 on Tire Rack for $65/tire. They have a great rating in rain, snow or dry pavement according to the Tire Rack web site. 50,000 warrenty. I just ordered 4 yesterday.
